Do you often find yourself spending money on the idea of a video game genre but mostly fail to beat them?
Personally, I was looking through my PSN library for a Metroidvania and out of almost 20 games in the last decade I've finished two of them, Strider remake and Dust an Elysian Tail and maybe The messenger if that counts.
I love the genre but I always seem to fall off. I have similar luck with old school rougelike/lites. I love to buy and play into them a bit, cult of the lamb, Dead Cells and hades were great fun for a few hours but never has one pulled me in so hard I beat it until Vampire Survivors came around.
I have so many of both of these genres, particularly Metroidvania and didn't know which to pick out a lot of great games like Holow Knight, Enderlillies, Ori and Ninesols amongst them so instead I bought another metroidvania hoping once again it'll stick with me til the end, Awaken Astral Blade, feels okay but has nothing on Ninesols or the likes of The Lost Crown.
