Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Best Switch game of 2024

Now that the dust has had time to settle, what is your pick for the best Switch game released in 2024, and what is your argument for why it is the best?

To make things more interesting, remakes/remasters don't count for this particular one.

What say you?

My pick is Echoes of Wisdom. Emio takes my second place and I'm sure Dragon Quest III would be a contender, but I didn't play it long enough yet.

Emio: The Smiling Man.

I loved The Girl Who Stands Behind, and Emio is slowly taking the lead as my favorite title in the series.

My favorite is Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown. Great metroidvania.

EDIT: Shit! I always speak too soon in these kinda threads. Balatro is my favorite Switch game of 2024.

If we consider just exclusives games, I'll go with Zelda: Echoes of Wisdow, if we consider multiplatform games, I'll go with Unicorn Overlord.

I went a little crazy and did a top 10

10. Lil’ Guardsman - a charming, humorous adventure game with clever deduction mechanics

9. Animal Well - a mysterious, neon-soaked Metroidvania with secrets galore

8. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - a bold departure for the series with exciting experimental gameplay

7. Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid - a nostalgic, affective life sim that makes you feel like a kid again

6. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown - an outstanding backtracking action-adventure game with crisp combat and challenging platforming

5. Shiren the Wander: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island - a ridiculously deep and replayable rogue-like RPG with high-stakes tactical decision-making

4. Nine Sols - an unusually great action-platformer with acrobatic moves and tense, risky deflection-based combat

3. Bakeru - a loving tribute to Goemon featuring wildly creative level designs, rewarding exploration, and surprisingly robust brawling gameplay

2. Unicorn Overlord - a remarkable tactical RPG with intricate, involving strategic combat, peerless artistic assets, and a mountain of content to enjoy

1. Balatro - an unassuming, approachable, powerfully addictive rogue-lite with extraordinary tactical depth, endless replayability, and the sort of hypnotic in-the-zone gameplay that will keep you playing until three in the morning

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Switch!!!

Mine's gotta be Nikoderiko.

It's been more than a decade since the last DKC game, and Niko scratches that itch nicely. It's not the least bit original, but its well made, tons of fun, and brings back those warm memories of classic platformers.

Throw in a stellar soundtrack by David Wise himself and you have my top Switch game of the year.

I didn't play my Switch much in 2024. Primarily introduced gaming to my daughter, so it was mainly her playing on my Switch lol. But, from the little I did get to play on it, really enjoyed Mario & Luigi: Brothership as far as exclusive goes (it would be Paper Mario TTYD, but that felt like cheating) and as far as 3rd party game, Unicorn Overlord.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Any news on a physical for this one? Really want to check it out.
