Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch 2 Experience Hands-On Dates Announced; Is May 9th Your Launch Date?

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/corporate/release/en/2025/250116.html

Some of the dates --

North America:

April 4th-6th: New York City

Apr 11-14th: Los Angeles

Apr 25-27: Dallas

Apr 25-27: Toronto

Europe

Apr 4th-6th: Paris

Apr 11-14th: London

Apr 25-27: Milan & Berlin

May 9-11: Madrid & Amsterdam

Tokyo: Apr 25-27

If you're in any of these cities, looks like you'll be able to play the Switch 2 in April through early May. Based on these dates I would say the launch is first week of May (the Switch 1 hands on events was the same thing, ran through the first week of March and the system launched March 3) though even late April might be possible.

For the Switch 1 the tour dates ended in Los Angeles Mar 3-5th (Switch 1 launched on March 3rd), so based on that I'd say the date is May 9th is the probable date.

I certainly hope it's early May since that seems to be earliest possible time it could be unless the gap between the April Direct and launch is surprisingly small. It would also make sense since they could follow up the big April Direct with another one in late June or sometime in July that goes into detail on the holiday lineup.

June 6th

Yeah I think the date is May 9th (2nd Friday of May) or May 16th, 2025.

These hands on events are meant to go right into the product launch Switch 1 Tour Dates from 2017 were:

Nintendo Switch 2017 Pre-Release Tour
New York – January 13th–15th
Toronto – January 27th–29th
Washington, DC – February 10th–12th
Chicago – February 17th–19th
San Francisco – February 24th–26th
Los Angeles – March 3rd–5th

They did their Switch blow out Nintendo Direct on Jan 13th, 2017 and then you can see the hands on tour went live immediately in New York City.

Switch launched on March 3rd. I think you don't want too big of a window between this hands on experience and the launch, you want people to try it, get excited and be able to buy it fairly soon thereafter.

Mid to end of May sounds like a real good moment to launch it imo.

Though, it seems the time gap for the possible launch could be pretty big going from May to early June.

5/15/25

That has a nice ring to it.

Nintendo tends to launch on a Friday these days. It used to be like Tuesday back in the day, then it became Sunday which I think was pointless because the systems had to be delivered to stores on the Friday anyway.

May 9th and May 16th are both Fridays, I think we could be looking at the release date on one of those two dates.

The Hands On Experience Tour wraps the weekend of the 9th.

Yeah, it'll probably be right after the European leg or early June.
