Star wars Jedi Survivor is getting ported back onto ps4 and Xone. I promise you, this WILL sell cause 50% of the player base are still there, 50% somewhat starved for AAA games and after this more companies will follow suit.  The engines are scalable, they can get Hogwarts Legacy running on the Switch. It's the end of big Jumps, ya'll. Might as well buy PC cause that's what consoles have become, mid teir PC builds and the games end up on PC at some point anyway. What is the advantage of a console now, when you can hook your PC up to the TV and easily couch play. 

Oh and to add a slap in the face to you PS5/XSX owners, it's releasing at the price of 49.99 USD. 🤣 This hurts the brain. The games industry is wild as we see these pivoting maneuvers unfold, never a dull moment with many surprises. 

It will get ported to Switch 2 the next generation of Nintendo Switch.

The more people that have access to a game, the better.

At this rate, possibly the switch itself.

Generations aren't ending until we stop getting consoles. Just because we have a lot of cross gen games this generation compared to previous generations doesn't mean console generations are ending.

Probably at full 70 bucks too because f*** us :)

Anywoo, generations are becoming more obsolete if you look at it from the traditional sense. Most consoles that will release are going to be trans-generational in their approach. Scaling well because engines have become much more malleable than in the past.

I'm guessing that we'll start having software released across two gens of hardware at a time, effectively making the new lifecycle for consoles two gens long.

That doesn't mean anything if those players aren't buying new games much which has been the case for a while now. Cross-gen games selling a lot more on the PS5 and Xbox Series has been the norm and by this point the amount of users on the old consoles still buying games will be small and will be even smaller once more of them have upgraded by the end of this year so more companies definitely aren't gonna follow suit. It's been very long lasting but the cross-gen period has been winding down over time and 2025 looks to be the year where this generation finally fully kicks off with 2024 being most of the way there but not quite. While it makes more sense to support old consoles for longer now eventually it'll be time for companies to move on whether that's due to the old ones being too weak or new games not selling enough on them to make it worth it.

Game engines are scalable so yes generations aren't a thing Iike they used to be. PC hasn't had "generations" in a decade. A 1080 plays more everything. This is just another example of consoles becoming more PC like.
