We have talked extensively about the successor to the Nintendo Switch. Many in this community have simply named it "Switch 2." However, I'm not entirely sold on that name, primarily because, phonetically, it sounds a bit odd with all the "t" sounds together, I suppose. That's why I believe the new console should be called the "Super Switch." Yes, you heard it correctly, even if that is not new at all. Not only does it convey a positive message, but it also evokes memories of the most successful Nintendo home console follow-up in their entire history, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES, also regarded as one of the best gaming consoles to ever exist). I don't know how they would address a potential third iteration, but that's something for future me to think about (Ultra Switch, maybe?).

I gave the text above for ChatGPT to give me feedback. Here is what I got:

The name of Nintendo's next gaming console is a subject of speculation and anticipation among fans and enthusiasts. "Switch 2" has been a common placeholder name in discussions, but "Super Switch" is an interesting and nostalgic suggestion.

The term "Super" has a long history with Nintendo, starting with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), which was a highly successful console. Using "Super" in the name would indeed evoke a sense of nostalgia and a nod to their successful past.

What are your thoughts on what Nintendo's next console should actually be called?

I prefer Switch 2 because it means we will then get Switch 3, 4 and 5 just like Playstation

Super Switch means they will go to some weird name in the next generation

Same. I'd like for Nintendo at this point to make each generation of hardware feel more iterative in branding and just name with numbers from now on and keep with hybrids.

That being said, Super Switch is one of the best names they could use if they don't use numbers.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 67 million (was 60 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Agreed with above posters.

I think Super Switch would be perfect if they were gonna abandon the Switch concept after next gen. But assuming (hopefully) the hybrid Switch concept is the product design they keep from here on into the foreseeable future, it makes the most sense to just name it Switch 2.

It's gonna be called Switch Plus.

It couldn't be more obvious.

I disagree. If Nintendo is continuing the Switch and hybrid format, then they should name it Switch 2. There's data that software tends to sell less when the sequel has a number. Yoshi P mentioned this as well, thinking they should just drop the numbering on the Final Fantasy title. This is obviously because the number makes it look like new players have to play the prequels to understand and enjoy fully. However, for the hardware there's data that simple numbers are indeed better. Hardware that consistently sells well and succeeds are numbered in order. Sony's Playstation is consistently successful, Apple's iPhone. On the other hand, when it has a confusing name, it tends to sell less. Xbox with those weird numbering, Nintendo every time they continue the same hardware concept. At least there's an excuse for Nintendo, because they change the concept within 2 generations. If the concept is changed, then changing the name also makes sense. But for Xbox, they should have just went with counting numbers. A normal person wouldn't know that Xbox 360 came out before Xbox One from just the name. Nintendo already made this mistake with the Wii U, an average person didn't know that it was a new console thinking it was a controller for the Wii. So for the next Switch, they should just name it "Switch 2", simple is the best for hardware.

Different form factors.
Home console only - Super sWiitch
Wearable version - Super sWatch
Controversially named pink version - Super sWench
And the expensive one with 90 minutes of battery life that stops working if you’re too far from your living room - Switch U

:)

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I think they may drop the Switch name. It just confused people with the Wii U. The important thing is that people know its from Nintendo. I dont think the Switch name carries a lot of weight when it come to their next console.

As a side note and off topic. It just dawned on me that your thumbnail is from the film When Marnie was There. That’s easily one of my favourite animated films of all time.
