Heard some rumors recently that Nintendo maybe showed/maybe discussed the new Switch behind closed doors to select press/devs @ Gamescom.

Full reveal/leaks may be relatively imminent.

Game journalist who focuses on XBox stuff says he's heard rumblings that Nintendo was showing off the Switch 2 to select devs and press members behind closed doors at the recent Gamescom show. 

Adds he takes this to mean a full reveal may be imminent, but I'm kinda skeptical on that, don't think Nintendo is showing or announcing anything until this holiday season is over. Leaks would be nice. 

That said I'm starting to wonder if summer 2024 or early fall 2024 could be a possibility. 

Showing off to devs they want to make games for it possibly. Don't expect a reveal until probably next summer. Expect a Fall or holiday release.

I would guess a Feb/March reveal next year. The Switch 1 units they're going to ship for Q1 2024 will be largely shipped by then an unaffected by an announcement then so it won't impact their fiscal year sales. 

Of course things can always leak well before that (as Switch 1 did). 

Showed/maybe discussed is the kind of vague enough to mean just as much as nothing really. Nintendo could indeed simply be talking about their next hardware generation with present devs.

Nothing to suggest they would've had a prototype with them or anything substantial.

Feels like another maybe/nothing burger we've got in recent times. Although I do expect the amount of rumors to increase as we get closer to next year so this isn't surprising in the least

Would not take anything seriously from this guy.

Just a reminder, the Wiimote was shown at TGS 2005 with some tech demos showed behind closed doors. The full reveal was at E3 2006 and released im November of the same year.
So nothing out of the ordinary and Q4 2024 is still a good target for Switch 2.

I just found this same rumor elsewhere. It read: "[It has} been suggested that select members of the press were given a first look at Nintendo’s next-gen hardware during the Gamescom 2023 tradeshow in Cologne, Germany". But I wouldn't hold my breath.

I don't think the press saw it, but developers? Quite possibly. We know from reliable sources that dev kits are out in the wild to some studios. 

Rumor has it WWHD and TPHD is definitely coming a year ago.

Yeah because it totally makes sense to release those right around Tears of the Kingdom.
