Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Allegations: The Pokémon company uses fan created music

Recently, an allegation has sprung up claiming that the latest trailer for Pokémon scarlet and violet uses snippets of a fan created arrangement of the area zero theme in their latest trailer showcasing the DLC

The tweet is as follows

https://twitter.com/NDMusicChannel/status/1688932299839053824?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1688932299839053824%7Ctwgr%5E635a4a8c19b58941ea5590fd6186d3f71d88d223%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fexputer.com%2Fnews%2Fgames%2Fpokemon-scarlet-and-violet-dlc-music%2F

Having listened to each theme, yes there are similarities between the two, obviously, but does anyone else think that the Pokémon company "stole" from this YouTube creator?

I wouldn't be surprised. Have you seen their ToS about fan content?

https://www.pokemon.com/us/legal/

No further consideration or compensation of any kind will be given for any Fan Art. In no uncertain terms, does Pokémon's use of Fan Art constitute a grant to Fan Art's creator to use the Pokémon intellectual property or Fan Art beyond a personal, noncommercial home use."

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Come join The 2018 Obscure Game Monthly Review Thread.

They do sound alike but ultimately it might simply come to the fact both mixers had similar musical ideas into their mix.

Oh NOW a Nintendo affiliated company likes fan content!

Well, assuming they did steal fanmade music.

What makes me sad is that when the Nintendo staff is doing their Directs, they always put the fans above everything, bow down at the camera, says words like "please", and "welcome"...

They don't even look like a bunch of greedy evil guys.

Business is business. Always be skeptical.

1) The ones featured in the Directs are mostly the game directors and staff so likely have nothing to do with the kind of behavior described

2) Also, this rumor is about the Pokémon Company, why bring up Nintendo in the whole picture?

3) Rumors are rumors ...

You definitely are not wrong, the higher-ups at Nintendo are some of the best I have ever seen in terms of how they redistribute their profits to the workers. However...these are businesses we are talking about. Their sole purpose is to produce the largest profit possible. Nintendo's smart in their strategy in that they focus on long-term success over short-term; i.e., they focus on building a brand of quality assurance and thus good word-of-mouth, in contrast with the strategy of EA and Pokémon Co. of shoving microtransactions and unfinished products throughout the market.

Because The Pokemon Company is a Nintendo affiliate.
