Oh, and will "end of the road" be the "bubble burst" of 2008? What will the forthcoming 2009 demise of the Wii be called?

he may be wrong, but all of these are true...

This is true of gaming all game developers it seems. Just look at the PS3 and Xbox line up this year.

What publisher doesn't rely too heavily on sequels. Um halo , Call of Duty, Guitar Hero), Madden, Ratchet and Clank , GTA . Devil May Cry, Megaman, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Contra, Silent Hill,

Jesus man that was just off the top of my head and not one of those is Nintendo. Hell any game that sells over a million lifetime is pretty much garunteed a sequel now days.

But only with Nintendo are those reliance on sequels. With anything else, it's magically something different.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

WiiFit isn't a sequel! Argument (if it can be called that) = FAIL

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

It was very interesting to me how Super Smash Brothers Brawl sold 1.4 million copies the first week it was out and has pretty much dropped off the map since.

Yeah, that is why still selling 180k in it sixth week, way better than almost all PS3 and Xbox360 games.

I think this is a prime example of how Nintendo has no problems selling consoles and peripherals, but they are not selling games as projected

OMG, this is the contrary that all say "Only Nintendo games sell in Nintendo consoles, Wii not sell software? t

hen any console sell software.

At this point, they would have to sell 20 million games instantly to catch up with the average games purchased per console on the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3.

You count Wii Sports and Wii Play? Not? Then dont count the two games bundled with the Xbox360 and PS3

  • They rely too heavily on sequels. This is problem from all the publishers, not only Nintendo.
My response.

Poor game marketing? Is this why they have 25 platinum titles?

Sequels? Since when are gaming sequels a bad thing? Tell me - are gamers clamoring more for new IPs, or PilotWings Wii, Kid Icarus Wii, Punch Out Wii, WiiSports2, and, on other consoles, Kingdom Hearts 3, Resident Evil 5, MGS4, GTA4, GT5, Fable2, Gears of War2, Resistance 2, Final Fantasy 13, Street Fighter 4, etc?

Low quanitity of consoles on shelves? That's because people are buying them. Quanitity on shelves is good but it pales in importance to the quantity sold, and there Wii continues to rule.

Third parties? Their relationship with 3Ps is much improved from it's nadir 10 years ago. The only thing that hurt support for the 'Cube was poor sales, not their relationship with Nintendo.

The media? The media who will fall all over themselves to promote WiiFit? Who are still running "Wii Therapy" columns? Who gush over the success of the Wii over it's rivals?
