I recently came across an interesting idea where groups of developers have opted to replace Zoom/Teams calls with virtual gatherings in serene online environments from games like Red Dead Redemption 2 (I guess that was the game that was mentioned in the post). Instead of gaming, they use their avatars to interact and discuss work-related matters while enjoying the virtual ambiance of places like sitting around a comforting fire or sharing a meal together. This concept seems appealing, especially considering that many developers enjoy gaming.
As the CEO of a small startup with six developers and plans to expand in the future, I find this concept intriguing and worth proposing. However, I would prefer not to spend company funds on purchasing paid games like RDR2 for each team member, as that might not align well with our investors. XD
Moreover, I wouldn't want to suggest that the team invest their own money in something not everyone might enjoy.
Therefore, I'm seeking suggestions for a visually appealing, free-to-play PC game (maybe an MMORPG) that offers beautiful virtual spaces for people to socialize and hang out online. The game should have options that allow players to avoid challenges that could disrupt these social gatherings (as in, the get together places in the game would not be subject to raids and such). ;)
I'm curious to hear the community's recommendations, and I appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thank you!
