Forums - Gaming Discussion - What Retro Games Do You Want Remade?

Most of us are excited for the Super Mario RPG remake for Nintendo Switch, and now many of us wanna know what other retro games, in this case games from 2011 or earlier, should get remade?

I personally hope for Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie remade for Xbox Series X/S, and if it's good enough I'd finally get one. Sonic Adventure without the tedious overworld sections and way better Big the Cat levels would also be a must.

What remakes of games from 2011 or earlier do you wanna see remade?

I want Chrono Trigger (the DS version, which is the best version) remade in the style of Octopath Traveller.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Dragon Quest VIII

The Mega Man Legends games would be cool. Never really played them, but Im guessing they could use some QoL updates.

4th gen: E.V.O. Search for Eden, Tales of Phantasia.

5th gen : Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage (was too ambitious for the n64, suffered from delay and heavily cut content yet still feature many interesting gameplay elements)

6th gen: TimeSplitters, Gladius, Sudeki, Jade Empire, Brute Force

Ode to a masterpiece

2023 so many great games to play, somehow I know I must walk that alley, but don't you feel in disarray, I'll always come back to you Stardew Valley.

There’s a few remakes I want to happen. In descending order

1) Dino Crisis
2) F-Zero (specifically GX)
3) Banjo-Kazooie

I would love to see remakes of Jet Set Radio (either game) or Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door but they honestly don’t need the remake treatment as both games hold up incredibly well. Could probably just get ported with updated controls and resolution.

The first two Tenchu games should be remade. It would fit in with Activision's model of remastering these PS1 games (e.g. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Tony Hawk).

I also think that, if they really remade the game, they could take good advantage of ray tracing in a way no stealth game ever has. Though, it is possible that such realistic lighting could cause issues with a shadow based stealth game, it would still be cool to see

1. Dino Crisis 1 & 2
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Final Fantasy 6, 8, 9
4. Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2
5. The Simpsons: Hit and Run
6. Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Zelda II. I actually would like to see Nintendo revisit the world of Zelda II as a new title for the next-generation Switch, It was a dark, mysterious, and dangerous world, and with today's technology, they could really flesh it out.

Dragon Quest VIII

Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar: Eternal Blue

The Ultima series.... as long as EA wasn't involved in it.

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon

Ys V. To date, that's the only Ys game that's never been released in the US in any form.

The classic Sakura Wars games, especially the first couple of games and the fifth game (the one we got in the US in 2010).

I'm not a fan of remakes (just play the original!), but I'm always very up for new games with retro mechanics.

Like "New Super Mario Bros". Maybe a new overhead Zelda. Some new point and click adventures like Monkey Island. New arcade games (Pacman/Bust-a-Move/Space invaders type things). How about some puzzle platformers?

To be fair, we are pretty well catered for already in the genre...
