Didn't see that? I didn't know they wanted to be acquired?

Cute and honest Sega Saturn fan, also noone should buy Sega grrrr, Sega for life. The reason I'm chaotic to few 3rd party developers is because I'm protecting Sega and also I lack skill to get really hot girl I really want. also few devs deserve it for making bad game's personal experiences, looking at Ghost Blade HD the shmup or Fighting EX Layer. My standards are too high for genres I play. KOF 13 > Fighting EX layer gameplay.

Ugh, Tencent was bad enough on its own without NetEase also stepping in. They bought up Grasshopper Manufacture awhile back.

They've wanted to be acquired for quite a long time.
For a while the head of Quantic Dream was being open that they wanted to be a part of PlayStation Studios.

Of course I would. Of course. I really like Sony, honestly I do. They’ve made some bets with developers like Fumito Ueda and Media Molecule. I kind of feel loyal to them.

Being part of a bigger publisher has some good advantages for studios. There's less worrying about funding for instance.

But Sony got kind of disturbed by Quantic Dream, and wanted to bail out.

NetEase has been investing in them since early 2019:

What did Quantic Dream do that freaked out Sony?

There are a handful of things:

There are also claims about Quantic Dream being a toxic work environment:

The allegations came to light last spring when members of staff, including the head of the IT department, filed a complaint against the studio regarding Photoshopped images of employees. These images, said to have been created by an unnamed member of staff and distributed around the office since 2013, are alleged to have included racist, sexist and homophobic elements. Some 600 Photoshopped images are said to have been circulated, depicting employees of the 180-strong studio in Nazi uniforms, swimming costumes and sexualised nurse outfits. Cage and De Fondaumière claimed they were unaware that some of the images were offensive, and told Mediapart that the images had been removed from the company servers as soon as the complaint was received.

This came across as ironic to those present, given that he has allegedly publicly stated sentences like, “in my games, all women are whores” and “at Quantic Dream, we do not make games for fags.”

From the sounds of it, Quantic Dream has had trouble hiring enough people for their projects.

On top of this, Quantic Dream has also suffered from a series of allegations surrounding workplace issues these past couple of years, including sexual harassment allegations and a toxic work culture. This would presumably make the studio even less attractive to work at in the face of all the competition to attract staff. However, sources close to Quantic Dream have told me that even though the trailer was released to an extremely favourable reception from the wider gaming community - and it certainly does look stunning - it has not had the desired effect of attracting developer talent to the studio.

Anyone know the price?

Sony should have put a ring on it first.

It's pretty clear that once Detroit was out, Sony distanced themselves from QD. That much is obvious. And considering all the controversy surrounding their workplace, it's no wonder Sony did.

Thank goodness. I'll not miss QD at all.
