Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sakurai Wins Most Valuable Creator And Teases New Project

Best explained here.

Sakurai didn't really give any big hints as to what his new project is, just that it's most likely not related to "production of the game", which could mean either Smash Bros. Ultimate or Kirby and The Forgotten Land (Sakurai's involved with the newest Kirby, right?). Now I really wanna hear more about what he's up to!!

I don't think Sakurai is involved with the new Kirby game. I could be wrong, I couldn't find any articles though mentioning it.

But then who could possibly be working on it in his place?

Well, I guess Shinya Kumazaki, would be the guy, who technically took Sakurai's spot. Or at least he's the series current director.

All that being said, I am also interested in what Sakurai does next. I am honestly a little tired of him being restricted to Smash. I would really like to see his imagination flow, brand new characters, lore, ya know, brand new IP. I know Smash has a lot of his own twist to it, but it's still restricted to established Nintendo characters only.

Kid Icaris Uprising is the best Star Fox game ever made and I want a sequel to it! Also the best use of 3d mode I ever had on the 3ds!

It's a VR project.

Personally I was disappointed that Uprising was gonna be a Star Fox game at one point but Sakurai changed his mind. -_-

To respond to Captain, Sakurai hasn't technically touch the Kirby series since Kirby Air Ride on the Gamecube. Shinya Kumazaki has been the main series director since Kirby Super Star Ultra back on the DS and has continued to be since.

Can't wait to see what kind of project Sakurai has brought his sight own. Appart from Smash , he exprimed himself often about how he didn't want to be stuck on a single franchise.

It'd be nice if he made another Kid Icarus Uprising though, especially if it's one where Viridi is killed by the new villain.
