Forums - Gaming Discussion - Unity acquires major movie/tv CGI studio Weta Digital for $1.625b

Weta Digital, which was founded by Lord of the Ring's director Peter Jackson, is widely regarded as one of the top 2 movie and tv special effects/CGI studios alongside LucasFilm's Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). Unity will allow Weta to exist as a separate entity called WetaFX, which will keep working with movie and tv studios. Meanwhile, Unity plans to use Weta's tools to improve the Unity engine.
