An all NSW top 10 Full House. Noice.

What made Minecraft crawl up to top 3 btw?

PS5 games fall.

Xbox ascends.

Switch sweeps the top 10

Xbox making better and better sales. Not sure if the XBO ever managed to sell so many consoles in Japan in one week outside of the launch, not even during holidays I think it could get that high.

Big week for Xbox Series in Japan, 3rd biggest week after launch week (21k~) and the week after launch week (3,800~). It looks like maybe the stock issues that have plagued Xbox Series in Japan since launch are finally coming to an end after 2 big weeks in a row now. Xbox Series is breathing down Xbox One's neck launch aligned now, it would have already passed Xbox One many months ago were it not for the stock issues.

Why is Xbox selling?

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Why is Xbox selling?

It has been selling out as soon as restocks happened ever since launch, it's just that that the weekly shipments have been pretty small after the first few weeks after launch. Now MS seems to have either upped their production capability, allowing more weekly units to be sent to all countries, or they have met initial demand in enough other countries for them to be able to funnel decent numbers into Japan, not sure which just yet.

Xbox Series at 52k LTD, damn.
MHR doesn't seem to have great legs, Momotaro will soon overtake it in physical sales. With digital MHR should be over 3.7mil.
GBG's second week drop is promising. If it's next drop is smaller (~30%) it can maybe reach 500k physical or more.

The race is on between Momotaro and MH Rise in physical sales.
If we include the inevitable ultimate or master edition, Rise should win comforably in the long run, but for now I think it will remain close for a while.

Major Switch Titles Launch Aligned

2021 predictions:

  • Switch - 27m
  • PS5 - 15.5m
  • Xbox Series - 10m

Man switch is cruising along
