Forums - Gaming Discussion - Stadia death toll, dozens of in development games cancelled

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/stadia-was-working-on-savage-planet-2-a-multiplayer-project-and-more/

The full death toll caused by Stadia deciding to end internal development was apparently dozens of 1st and 2nd party games. Among those cancelled were:

  • Journey to the Savage Planet 2, which was larger and higher budget than the first game
  • Early proposal for an episodic horror game from Kojima
  • Early proposal for a game from Yu Suzuki
  • Project Frontier, a multiplayer action game from former Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed developer Francois Pelland

Supposedly the Harmonix developed music game survived the purge, for now at least, though there are reports of music licensing difficulties which could see it cancelled as well.

Well, I hope that at least they get properly compensated for their effords, even if the games don't release. Having to develop games for a stillborn platform like Stadia must've been frustrating.
Also, Kojima had something going with Stadia? Since when?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I hated the fact that they bought up Typhoon. JttSP is a pretty awesome game, and they just bought up and discarded the devs like some used-up condom. I'm pretty pissed. Hope that one day the entire ABC goes under, they have proven time and time again that they are nothing more than a greedy, cancerous company that offers nothing good to the world.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Journey to the Savage Planet was pretty good. Shame the sequel was cancelled. On the other hand, Google bought them so I guess it would've been exclusive anyway.

Hot damn! Who knew Stadia would be a failure.....

Kojima dodged a bullet, huh? But yeah what a train wreck.
