Forums - Movies Discussion - MCU Spider-Man 3 rumors- Tobey, Andrew, Miles Morales, and more

It was recently confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch and Jamie Foxx would be in the movie, as Dr. Strange and Electro respectively. Now we've got some very interesting rumors about the movie and how those 2 characters will fit into it:

-Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will both reprise their roles as Spider-Man

-The previous 2 Spider-Mans will show up in the movie's 3rd act, to help Tom Holland Spider-Man defeat villains from multiple Spider-Man universes who are showing up thanks to Doctor Strange's Multi-dimensional powers, which will be further expanded upon in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is set to release after MCU Spider-Man 3. One of these multi-verse villains is Electro from Amazing Spider-Man 2

-Kraven the Hunter will make his live-action debut as one of the villains in the movie, as a lead-in to his upcoming standalone movie in the Sony live-action Spider-verse

-Green Goblin will make an appearance, though it is currently unknown if it will be the Norman Osborn Green Goblin from the first Spider-Man universe played by Willem Dafoe, the Harry Osborne one from Amazing Spider-Man 2 played by Dane DeHaan, or a brand new MCU Green Goblin

-Scorpion will be making his first costumed appearance as one of the villains in the movie, after his alter-ego Mac Gargan appeared in MCU Spider-Man 2

-Nick Fury's SWORD organization will be involved with the movie

-Oscorp will make it's first MCU appearance

-Miles Morales will make his first appearance in the MCU, though we don't know if he will be one of the full fledged Spider-Mans that gets pulled in to help Tom Holland Spider-Man in the 3rd act, or if the movie will be an origin story for him within the MCU, showing how he gets his powers and setting up a future Miles Morales MCU movie

This just seems like too much. Could be amazing if they pull if off right, but it feels too much like world building.

Yeah, it definitely sounds quite crowded. This could go one of 2 ways. It could follow in the footsteps of the original Spider-Man 3, which people hated for being overcrowded with too many villains, or it could follow in the footsteps of Into the Spider-Verse, and be loved in spite of being crowded with alot of different characters.

While one source seems sure that Tobey and Andrew already signed on, another source says they haven't signed yet. That source says that Maguire in particular is playing hardball, but that Feige "really" wants them both and is dead set on making a deal.

Maguire playing hardball for more money matches with what we know about his Spider-Man salaries, he doesn't work cheap:

There aren't enough words in either the English or Spanish language that can express how badly I want this to happen.

Raimi film remains my fave SPider-Man and superhero films. It would be great to see 40 years old worn down Spidey. Then again Andrew is not far behind. Tobey has to be cheap now. He hasn't done shit in a decade. You would think he would be desperate.

On the flip side, maybe the reason he hasn't taken on any more roles in a while (He's mostly a producer now) is that he's content with stepping out of the spotlight and simplifying his life. He made his big money, and unless he has a really bad gambling/spending problem, I don't think he's hurting for cash. He may be perfectly fine with where he is now. And if he is, it may take a lot more than just a fat paycheck to get him to put on that Webbed suit one more time.

Yeah, I'm also a huge fan of the Raimi trilogy, and would love to see Tobey as Spider-Man on-screen again. Even better would be if afterwards, Sony decided to make a proper Tobey Spider-Man 4 as part of their new shared universe live-action Spider-verse, showing an older mid 40's Peter struggling to balance his family life with MJ and kids with his duties as Spider-Man, directed by Raimi.
