Forums - Sony Discussion - Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, and Sackboy confirmed cross-gen

Additionally, we know that the PS4 community will transition to PS5 at different times, and we’re happy to announce PS4 versions of some of our exclusives. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will also launch on PS4. While these three games were designed to take advantage of PS5 and its unique next-gen features like the ultra-high-speed SSD and DualSense controller, PS4 owners will also be able to enjoy these experiences when they launch. The PS4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive.

I thought they believed in generations 😳 turns out they believe in both of them lol

That's not good. Epic mistake Sony. Own goal.

Well, no reason to get PS5 anytime soon!
A sign of Sony being worried PS5 will start slow?

What a massive mistake to limit Horizon: Forbidden West to PS4 hardware.

What happened to Sony believing in generations?

I was thinking the same thing. I remember when some people shat on Microsoft for releasing some games as cross-gen titles as it would hold back the next-gen.

I mean, Ratchet, GT7 & God of War are looking to be true PS5 exclusives. At least for now lol.

People should be giving Sony flak for this decision. Sackboy and Miles are one thing but an ambitious sequel like HFW? My hype for the game is decimated.

Digital Foundry's John Linneman is very disappointed by their decision to make Horizon: Forbidden West cross-gen, seems he has reason to believe that it's not a case of the game being designed for PS5 and then ported to PS4, but rather a case of it being designed for both simultaneously, resulting in PS4 holding the game back on PS5.

Maybe he thinks the June trailer was all bullshots now. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
