The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console worldwide with 379,560 consoles sold for the week ending July 14, according to VGChartz estimates. 

The PlayStation 4 was the second best-selling console with sales of 184,733 consoles sold. This was followed by the Xbox One with 54,627 units, and the Nintendo 3DS with 5,666 units. 

Nintendo Switch sales compared to the same week a year ago are up 168,350 units (79.71%). The PlayStation 4 is down 7,850 units (-4.08%), the Xbox One is up 8,647 units (18.81%), and the 3DS is down 12,881 units (-66.45%).

Switch hit 60m!

In the Famitsu thread GoT sold a ton of copies, but it didn't help hardware sales much. Looks like we're getting a similar situation worldwide.

Nintendo Switch Sales Top 60 Million Units Sold Worldwide

Nintendo's hybrid video game console, the Nintendo Switch, has surpassed 60 million units sold to consumers worldwide, according to VGChartz estimates.

The Nintendo Switch reached the milestone for the week ending July 18, 2020. The console sold 379,560 units to bring its lifetime sales to 60,025,435 units.

It has taken the Nintendo Switch 41 months to sell 60 million units worldwide. Comparing this rival consoles, it took the PlayStation 4 a total of 44 months to reach the milestone, while the Xbox One has yet to sell 50 million units worldwide. It did take the PlayStation 3 62 months and the Xbox 360 74 months.

Comparing Switch sales to other platforms by Nintendo, it took the Wii 38 months to sell 60 million units worldwide, the DS 38 months, and the 3DS 68 months.

Here is a list of the top 10 best-selling Nintendo Switch games worldwide, according to Nintendo's shipment figures through March 31, 2020:

  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 24.77 million
  2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 18.84 million
  3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 17.41 million
  4. Super Mario Odyssey – 17.41 million
  5. Pokemon Sword / Pokemon Shield – 17.37 million
  6. Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! – 11.97 million
  7. Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 11.77 million (first 11 days) / 13.41 million (first six weeks)
  8. Splatoon 2 – 10.13 million
  9. Super Mario Party – 10.10 million
  10. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 6.60 million

The Nintendo Switch launched on Mach 3, 2017. The handheld only version, the Nintendo Switch Lite, launched on September 20, 2019.

60m Switches in 3 years, lighting speed.



Almost 400k week for the Switch in the middle of summer is huge. I fear it's numbers this fall/holiday. I don't think it will have much trouble outselling the next gen for several months this year and next year. Which is normal since the PS4 was doing the same when Switch came out.
It should be over 70 millions this year, maybe even 75 millions.
