Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Your game expectations for the Switch on 2H 2020

With no Direct or any other news from Nintendo, there's little known what will come later this year from them safe for a new Paper Mario and according to some leaks, a Metroid Prime Trilogy Remaster.

So, what are your expectations from Nintendo for this second half of the year? How do you think they will try to keep the momentum going?

I do think that the Metroid Prime Trilogy leak makes it clear that Metroid Prime 4 is just around the corner behind it and will release this holiday season.

Aside from that big release, I expect some smaller ones: A new Chibi Robo or a NES Remix port for instance would fit well in between those releases. Then, there's the announced Detective Pikachu sequel, which could make it as a fill-in for a year without any Mainline or remake Pokemon release. Finally, Bayonetta 3 could also make it for this holiday season.

Outside of Nintendo, there are of course many other developers making games, for the Switch, but let's keep it focused on Nintendo itself, shall we?

Style Savvy, all they need.

They will have something bigger than we expect this Christmas. No way MP4 will be ready this year. MP trilogy is going to be the big one then it will need a remake not just remaster, but I suspect they have something huge up their sleeve that no one knows about yet outside Botw2.

This is the millionth time a thread about the prediction of upcoming games on Nintendo Switch later this year was made. It's now repetitive and ridiculous.

Because of the Pandemic I have no idea. I really think Zelda was planned for this year and Bayo 3 as well but I think those got knocked to next year at the very least. They may just pump out some smaller games and a couple remasters fr now until they can get back to the office.

Nothing but ports, as it should be. Oh, and maybe some throwaway low effort sub 90 meta game, like 2D Metroid.

But in all seriousness, I have no idea. I do think 3D Mario port(s) are likely. At this point I'm more confident in what's coming next year than this year.

WAY too early for holiday season stuff to be announced.

Try back in about 4 months.

But I expect this year to be fairly strong in terms of releases. I don't think Coronavirus will impact schedules much. I expect some juggernaut level titles like Breath of the Wild 2 and the rumoured remake trilogy of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy 1, and Super Mario Galaxy 2. But, as I said, we won't know for another 4 months or so.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

The one and only thing I know for sure about Nintendo’s unannounced releases for the rest of this year is that there’s absolutely no way MP4 is “just around the corner.” I don’t even think there’s any chance for a 2021 release with that one, let alone this year. After the surprises of Paper Mario and Pokémon Snap, right now if I had to guess I’d say they’ll surprise us with a Mario Sunshine remake coming in August (I think this is what we’ll get over the rumored 3D all stars remaster), Snap in September, Bayo 3 in October, Mario 3D world Deluxe and either Botw2 or a complete surprise in November and maybe the Prime Trilogy remaster in December.

- Pikmin 3 DE (August)
- ????????? (September)
- Super Mario All Stars Remasters (October)
- Pokémon Snap (October/November)
- maybe one more Pokémon game (November)
- Bayonetta 3 (November/December)

4 months from now is OCT, usually holiday stuff isn’t announced that late
