Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Best Nintendo handheld

I think the best is...

Gameboy 3 4.55%

Gameboy Advance 13 19.70%

DS 30 45.45%

3DS 20 30.30%

Total:66

Of Nintendo's past handheld systems, which do you consider the best, and why?
(Note: Switch not included as it's not done yet, and so as not to restart that ridiculous and overdone "is Switch a handheld/console/hybrid" debate)

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Gameboy Advance. I liked it when it first came out, but in the past few years I've been revisiting it a lot. It has so many great 2D games. I've really been missing 2D games, and the Gameboy Advance is really a haven for 2D gaming. It has 3 Castlevanias, 3 Sonics, a FF Tactics game and a ton of other great games. On top of that it has a lot of NES and SNES ports. It was the last good system we got before 2D gaming got passed over to the indie developers.

This right here. With well over 2,000 games already available, including top tier Nintendo games, it's blowing everything before it out of the water. Platformers, RPGs, Metroidvanias, action games etc., you get it all.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

I would go with Gameboy just because that's the only one I've really played at all. But like other people said...the Switch hahaha. I'll go ahead and vote gameboy though for the sake of the thread.

Well, I only have a 2DS, and I love it.

However, I know that the GBA library is amazing.

DS, without question.

It is home to some of my favourite memories in gaming including the Phoenix Wright trilogy and co-op multiplayer in Dragon Quest 9. Also, it's the handheld I own by far the most games for. The best part of GBA were the handheld ports of classic titles, some of them were buggy and/or dumbed down; most of which I actually played on DS, not GBA hardware. I can't recall any great games that were exclusive to the system. I suppose Circle of the Moon was an alright castlevania game, but I found it inferior to previous games, especially SotN (which it was a clone of) and very difficult to see on the screen except under direct light from how dark the game was.

On the otherhand, DS provided a backlight to GBA games, so I ended up playing GBA games mostly on DS - and for that, I can't credit toward my GBA experience.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Switch but since that isnt an option than GBA.
It has amazing games in of itself but the SNES ports/remakes made it all the better!

Oh and Golden Sun :)
