Forums - Microsoft Discussion - New exclusive for Xbox Series X to be unveiled - 4k120fps

The official Twitter page for Dynamic Voltage Games announced they will be debuting the first gameplay footage of an Xbox Series X exclusive that will be native 4K resolution and 120 frames per second.

"Later this coming week I will be debuting gameplay for my first XBSX exclusive - which will be native 4K and 120fps. That's the good news. The bad news is I can't even capture 4k/120," reads the tweet.

And this for reference on the studio

I think it is good that we see more games that shall release on the launch of the console and one that will try 4k120fps at the same time, but also will hold expectations in check since it isn't a big studio.

Have MS supported them to get exclusivity or do the dev love the platform? I dunno, but if it is the first the possibilities of the quality increasing are good.

4K 120fps. WOW!! That is a great achievement. I don't think graphically intensive games like Gears, Uncharted, or anything like that will hit those marks. I do expect Forza to somehow though. I actually can't wait to see what Forza look like with that resolution and framerate.

Real life doesn't necessarily have a fps equivalent, but for me going from 60 to 120 is almost as jarring as from 30 to 60. Everything just gets much smoother and in most cases depending on the type of game, more responsive.

Nope, depending on how you measure your eye would be like 600fps. But it can reduce latency, improve gameplay

Yep I also don't think graphically intense games will go over even 30fps. But it is good that on launch we will be seeing some 4k120fps games.

Finally, I am beyond ready for some next gen games to be shown off.

Forza 8 should easily do 4K/120, with 4 times the CPU Power, and 2+ times the GPU power compaired to XBO X. Forza 7 is already 4K/60 on XBO X. Add in the SSD and they should be able to greatly increase the IQ, with higher resolution assets being able to stream to the larger pool of RAM at a faster rate.

Real life isn't bound by fps, but yes, it's about your eyes ability to keep up with the refreshing images and better latency. Those two things combined, it has helped PC stomp consoles into the ground in this regard.

And it's a noticeable step up from 60.

Don't we need HDMI2.1 for 120fps games? I wonder how many people have a tv that supports that lol.

Forget hdmi 2.1, even the tvs that may have that will be much more hard to find true 120fps tvs.

Hopefully this gets the ball rolling on more Xbox X and PS5 games getting unveiled. Looking forward to seeing some next generation gameplay.

That's correct.

I really don't understand why anyone would make a 4k/120fps game when hardly anyone has a HDMI2.1 compatible tv... This sounds more like a marketing scheme than a true next gen game reveal. Oh, well lets hope not all Series X games will be aiming for such crazy fps and resolution numbers.

To the contrary I think just about any 8th gen game could achieve 4K/120 fps on Series S.

I mean Gears 5 became 4K/60 fps with room to spare for Ultra settings. It could likely hit 4K/120 fps with X1 graphics settings. MS said they also want to achieve 4K/120 fps in MP.
