Most likely not,Sony never used such a pricing for a launch and it has been rare for all brands to use such a launch price in the last 15 years.

It is sometimes used as pricing for a more expensive second type of a product but rarely for this, even if it can be priced at **,49 companies will tend to up it to **,99 because of the conception that products with more 9's in the last digits get sold more.(And lower it to ,99 because the first digits are what resonate the most so it does feel like a lot lower priced then just that one cent while instinctively still having the attraction of the 9,s)

Also,do you mostly play multiplatform games?

Just because it has never happened, doesn't mean it can't happen.

I play a mix of multiplat and exclusives.

For consoles, I don't care so much about the exclusives, you have the rare game on Switch (Zelda), Xbox (Halo) or Playstation (Uncharted) that I *might* be interested in, but for the most part, the exclusives I want are on PC.

Indeed and that's why i commented the pricing most likely will not happen, there is ofcourse always a chance it does.

Bolded:That seems to be the reasonable thinking if you want to play with the best performance/hardware yes and with some luck you might get a lot of the older and new console exclusives on PC too.

PS5 will be $500, not a penny less.
People expecting a lower price because XSX is stronger are in for a treat.
Both consoles are expensive and very capable piece of hardware.

Well the PS3 was sold at a 200$ loss at the start, so 399 is not out of the question for the PS5.

They also have a strong PSN as well. I actually think SONY gonna shock and do 399

PS3 took a $200 to hit $600.

PS5 will be taking minimal loses as to hit $500.

That's the pricing they are going after.

It doesn't matter if the XSX is also $500, it'll sell normally with that pricepoint.

The problem would be if the XSX was less than $500, which there is zero chance of happening.

A Playstation selling at the same price of a Xbox will likely never be a bad purchase, they have no reason to undercut it, at all.

Sony doesn't want to take as big of a hit like they did with the PS3 at launch. If the rumor is true that the parts for the PS5 are $450 it will likely cost Sony closer to $500 per console when you add in manufacturing and shipping costs. Plus retailers take a small cut per console sold. I'm guessing either $449 or $499 at launch, with the Xbox Series X launching at the same price to match.

$450. But it's more than likely going to be at least $500. $400 isn't happening. $600 is likely as well.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

3DS: 77 mil (was 73 million)

I think Sony takes the hit & sells for $399.

After what we look at this week, feels like 499$ price point is the floor.

I'm thinking $450 - $500.
I'd be surprised if it's $400 but not completely shocked either.

Expecting 450. Hoping for 400 (pls Sony)
