Forums - Microsoft Discussion - How do you feel about the new Xbox One UI?

Home Screen UI got better. I like that now they give an option to remove a lot of unneeded stuff from dashboard. But My Games and Apps section definitely got worse. I've already mentioned it in XBE thread, but hiding Updates and Queue sections under one more additional level is not a good idea. I want them to add it to dashboard or Guide at least to make it more easier to access.

Games pop up quicker now than before. When I scrolled through my games in the previous UI, it took awhile for certain games to pop up. Now that not everything is on one screen, everything loads quicker with Games&Apps. This is why they changed it this way to begin with.

I do agree with the bolded.

I immediately liked it more when I booted up my Xbox the other day. Way more sleek and less cluttered to me.

I also noticed that it the games list loads faster after update. But I doubt that hiding Updates and Queue section has anything to do with it. I still find it hilarious that Xbox One OS is way slower than what 360 had. I hope for completely new OS rebuilt from scratch for Series X but unfortunately it seems highly unlikely.

Yeah his whole post seems like BS I own a X1 S and a PS 4 slim and even with this update the X1 still has a better UI then the PS4.  The X1 is much more user friendly overall.  Game downloads and updates are handled better on the X1.  Switching games is smoother on the X1 achievements are implemented better then trophies and the X1 has better web browser.

Yeah? Ok how can I easily eject an external hard drive without switching off the console?

Also my xbox X is more powerful than my ps4 pro, so why is the UI still slower? Why sometimes it takes long to boot the console?

And something not too serious, but sometimes (rare) I am playing a game and the app just closes and gives me an error, no big deal, I just open the game again, but this has never happened to me on ps4.

And if your wi-fi is weak, it will take literally minutes to boot the console, the ps4 doesn't have this issue, it starts in seconds with strong or weak wi-fi.

Also, I lose wi-fi connection way more often on xbox, only fix - delete the wi-fi setting,  remove all cables, wait a few seconds and connect everything again. Then setup the wi-fi again. No such issue ever happened to me on ps4.

I have X1 S and I can plug and uplug my external HDD without any issues regardless of whether the console is on or not can't do the same think on my PS4 slim.  Also my console pretty much boots up instantly.  My WiFi never drops either but my router is the same room that is probably why.

I wish they brought back the blades from the 360.

They won't, they need to advertise, all they care is to sell you stuff, they don't care about user experience this is not apple.

The blades where overrated the final and current 360 dashboard is better.  Also the ads on the X1 aren't band since they only are about games, the 360 had some bad non gaming ads.

It likely has more to do with Gamepass, GwG, installed games, apps, etc. not being all on one screen. I think Queue is quicker, but Updates takes about the same. I like the Games&Apps way more now than before. I didn't like the last one at all with everything listed vertically. It just took too long to load everything. Phil mentioned in an interview how his Series X dashboard is quicker than current gen so chances are they keep it similar.

I agree, but its a little too late, we are 8 months away from next gen, when Microsoft will change yet again the design of the UI, they cant help themselves, its as if the designers don't even know what to do. They keep changing for the sake of change.

The improvement is great but still not as good as the ps4 UI from 2014. But I still have adds that I do not want.

The blades were simple, clean and fast. The final 360 UI was a huge mess, slowed the console down to a crawl, the ps3 UI was ultra fast, everything was instant.

Excuses excuses, stop riding Microsoft bottom, simple fact is you should be able to eject an external USB hard drive, period, my TV can do it, my PS4 can do it, my laptop can do it. If you just remove without ejecting you could lose some files or mess up saves.

Also, why do you have X1 S? I really do not understand why people haven't upgraded to the X, its way better than the S.

You are lying about booting instantly, unless you have your internet OFF.

Sure I believe your wi-fi might be OK, but go check on google how many people had issues on xbox, I know I had, fortunately I knew how to solve it, most people just gave up. Just do a quick google search. Same google same for xbox boot up.

I love my X, and I prefer my elite controller over the nacon revolution unlimited on the pro, check my reviews for both on amazon, I gave elite a 4stars and nacon 2 stars. I love many things about the X, specially how quiet it is, but I will not lie just to justify my purchase, Im as honest as can be, I have no stocks in either company and I expect nothing short of perfection for my hard earned money, and the same will be next gen, Ill tell it as it is.
