Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony is going to mess up this Gen

Sony and Playstation are doomed now so that in the future, when there fortunes reverse, it can be based on being lucky due to...(insert reasons here)

Around the Network

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the games that the console has and its price. That is a little more or less powerful, it really won't make a difference.

As long as the price is not excessive and they keep taking out their exclusives at a good pace, they will be fine.

As a Nintendo fan I'm insulted by all y'all saying Sony/Ps5 doomed. WE and WE ALONE are entitled to being doomed as a community (Nintendo). None of the rest of you (Sony, MS, Google, Apple) are ever allowed to be doomed. If you want you can pick another word.

Please understand...

The wait and see approach is kinda a sign of inconfidence this far into the gaming industry's existence in my opinion. Especially after they dominated 8th gen. A leader, should lead, not follow.

Or they just have a timeline planned and are actually in the process of following it through. There is still so much time left until the end of the year that it's incredibly bizarre that ppl think we should have them giving all the info right now.

I never said they should divulge all the information...they've given out a decent amount of information already. I should have specified, the wait and see approach for pricing. I'm a huge Nintendo fan, I'm not pissed that they haven't shown a direct. The information will be given out when ready, but in terms of back door hearings of Sony waiting to see what MS does in terms of pricing, and that behavior is in Sony's blood at this point starting with PS1, that tidbit is confusing.

Edit: Nevermind, answered my own question. I guess Sony doesn't want to PS3 themselves and hemorrhage billions this time around and get bold with their pricing. Makes sense.

"speak softly and carry a big stick"

When your logo reveal, generates alot more buzz, than a actual console unveiling from the competitor.
People are too worried, about sony not announceing things just because xbox resently has.

Sony like Nintendo and Microsoft has a fan base that will buy the system no matter what. Sony's fan base is rather large compare to the others, and even if it is under powered its not going to lose this generation of consoles. Microsoft while they have a hardcore fan base will never amount to anything in Japan, and will have to sell their console to someone that doesn't care for shooters and racers such as Halo, and Forza. Xbox One was the first Microsoft console I bought, got it really cheap to play Rare Replay, and it is currently not hooked up to a TV in my house. I have no intentions of buying the X at this point, and it will take a lot of exclusive games that interest me to get me to buy one. Do I want PS5 information, of course I do, but it really doesn't matter I will be getting one.

What is going at Sony? I conjured up few scenario based on the words going around on the web.

scenarios that can't even back up with reasons why? It's about as baseless as me saying that the only reason MS has been buying up so many studios is because they're about to have a 3rd party exodus from their platform

Sony is being quiet because they have absolutely no need to be loud.

Never has a username been more apt.

I do think that Sony need a humbling now and then. Castrating Japanese developers and censoring things just isn't the way to go in my opinion.

They won't mess up though. They've got incredible exclusives and a loyal playerbase. It's all on Xbox this gen to recapture the 360's glory.

I see there are still some posters moaning about censorship. It had little effect on games when it was announced and it has almost zero effect on them now.

wouldn't surprise me

It's still an issue. I'm not a fan of creators being castrated.

It did a number on independent studios as well.

I am a Playstation guy, always have been, but sometimes they need a slap.

You need better sources. You've already been called out for trying to use oneangrygamer.  And looking at the list on the other - it has just as many issues.

For example South park. PS4 didn't censor that - UBISOFt did.  And only on Europe and Australia.  Which apparently have their own rating system.

"Nothing quite like Western views being injected into Japanese culture, eh?"

I'm not quite sure what that means since the very first example on the list if something censored ONLY in JP but not the West.

Well, I used OAG in the politics discussion where, as usual, they nitpicked one dodgy article and spent two pages ragging on it. It was the "Get Woke, Go Broke" list, I believe. OAG is/was trash, but it's always interesting to read different points of view.

You should read up on Japan's view on censorship. Japanese players saying that Sony has become "America's dog" and that.

Edit: And, as I said, it did a number on smaller companies.

2. Its under powered and Sony is afraid that it will get negative press and set a narrative of 12 vs 9 tf

If its under powered than no amount of delaying the reveal is going to control the damage. it is bound to happen, like it did with Xbox one and PS4. Just reveal the hardware and then for the rest of the year rely on showcasing your strongest asset which are exclusives.

*then

PS5 could be underpowered, but it wouldn't matter because it would still have a far better library than Series X. PS4 has something like 25% more well reviewed AAA games than XB1. MS cares very little about having quality exclusives, or Japanese games so this is unlikely to change next gen.

Price and library win console wars, not graphics. That's always been the case.

A bad website is a bad website. You can't have one part of well written and sourced correctly.. and have one poorly sourced with a massive political bent. Bad - is bad.

You didn't answer my question about what "Nothing quite like Western views being injected into Japanese culture, eh" means. Your "list" has games censored in JP but not US. But also in US but not JP.

And not wanting to sell 18+ games isn't censorship. It is just not wanting to sell them.

And you do need better sources. If I can grab a random game off the list and see the massive bias required to put it on that list - you messed up. The list is thus corrupted as is the website.

Have a look at the Tweets in this thread. Sony America taking it upon themselves to decide what Japan does and doesn't get. You don't see a problem with that?

https://www.resetera.com/threads/sony-apparently-forcing-japanese-only-games-to-go-under-english-inspections.77364/

One site may be bad, but what about Push Square? Or any other site that covers Sony's censorship policies?

Do a quick Google search. This shit isn't popular.
