Forums - Movies Discussion - How many movies do you see in theaters each year?

See thread title

I never go to the movie theater 10 20.41%

1-3 18 36.73%

4-6 6 12.24%

7-9 0 0.00%

10-12 3 6.12%

12+ 12 24.49%

Total:49

I go to the movie theater fairly regularly. I've always enjoyed the big-screen experience, so I try to go see every movie that interests me. Just last year, I saw the following films (in order):

Dragon Ball Super: Broly
Glass
Alita: Battle Angel
Captain Marvel
Shazam!
Avengers: Endgame (twice)
John Wick 3
Brightburn
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Dark Phoenix
Spider-Man: Far from Home
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
It Chapter Two
Joker
Zombieland: Double Tap
Terminator: Dark Fate
The Rise of Skywalker (twice)
Knives Out

That's 18 movies and 20 visits total. In previous years, here's how many movies I saw that were released in those years:

2018: 16
2017: 18
2016: 13
2015: 10
2014: 14
2013: 11
2012: 12
2011: 11
2010: 13

That's 136 movies in total in the 2010s (movies I saw multiple times like all the Star Wars films would bring the actual number of visits up to 150 or so). I enjoyed most of them, though there were a few stinkers (Dark Phoenix was a recent one that rated very low for me). My frequency has increased over the past three years as I have more disposable income now, plus there's been more MCU films each year as well. Just this year, I've already seen three movies, and there's probably a dozen others I plan on seeing.

That’s a lot more than me. I only go once or twice. Or some years none at all. This year I’ve been to something once so far.

None. I watch a lot of films but much prefer to watch them in the comfort (and quietness) of my home.

I would say I go about an average of 20 times a year.

Here are the movies I saw in theaters last year in order:

Free Solo (On New Year's Day)
Shoplifters
Green Book
The Ballad of Narayama (Special Classic Screening)
BlacKKKlansman
Bohemian Rhapsody
Captain Marvel
Long Day's Journey Into Night (Hated this movie)
Us
Shazam!
Avengers Endgame
Booksmart
And Your Bird Can Sing
Rocketman
John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Spider-Man Far From Home
Hustlers
Joker
Parasite
The Irishman (3.5 hours in theaters)
Knives Out (Favorite Movie of the Year)
Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker (On Christmas Day)

I also saw a special screening of the movie Harriet with the director for free in a theater.

I like watching movies in theaters. I just wish they weren't so expensive (especially in New York City).

Pff. Nah, but I promise not to pirate your films :)

Around 3 or 4, I guess.

Watched Captain Marvel, Detective Pikachu, Avengers Endgame (three times) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters last year. So, 4 movies, and 6 visits.

I have seen 2 films in the last 3 years and before that nothing for about 6-7 years in theaters.

Bite my shiny metal Cockpit!

The last two movies I saw in the theater were Interstellar and The Lion King (with my kids). Hardly ever. I rather watch movies at home.

It depends. I've used to watch around 10 movies per year earlier but It's just that I rarely find something that interests me nowadays. Last year was a bit better than 2018 I think. I watched:
- John Wick 3
- Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
- Promare

- Joker
- Star Wars 9 (kinda regret it, but considering that I watched all the previous films, I've decided to watch this one as well)

I also watched some 2019 films during the long flight I had for my business trip:

- Avengers: Endgame

- Spiderman: Far From Home

- Alita: Battle Angel

Only liked the last one out of these three
