Can we please stop this nonsense? It's beginning to feel like being in a meeting of the flat earth society...

A company has to look for the health of thir emplyees first and foremost in such a situation. If I were managing a large corporation like Sony, I'd also stop any flying around of "my" people, and meeting at conventions where you have no clue as to where the people would come from and what people they would have interacted with before.

Be more polite with VideoGameAccountant, he's a great analyst who predict that PS4 will never be above Wii..

I get that some Xbox fans can't wait for the next generation since Xbox One is pretty much dead, but the next Xbox won't have exclusives game so why to hurry at the end ?

Just want to clarify that a Xbox gamers perception of an exclusive is different from the other side. So long as it isn’t on PlayStation it is exclusive. The Xbox brand isn’t regulated to one console. We want that fresh start for obvious reasons lol, and the Series X will have the best versions of both 1st party and 3rd party.

And some, far from the majority, see PC as part of the family with the Windows OS monopoly. Though PC gamers deny this to maintain their individuality haha

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I think they are thinking they can't get the PS5 out in time at their target price so they are quietly avoiding events while blaming the virus.

Consider the inverse. Let's say Sony had already announce the PS5, showed some games and say it's definitely coming Holiday 2020. Would they bow out of numerous events even with the virus? Probably not. Moreover, Sony (as far as I can tell) didn't stop going to events when Bird Flu and Ebola were an issue. But they have canceled numerous events due to "lack of announcements." So now Sony is canceling more events. Are we really going to say the only reason they are bowing out is because of the virus, especially when it's right now worse in Japan than the US?

When we have reports saying Sony is struggling with the price and supply chain break down across numerous industries, it's hard to say everything is hunky dory at Sony and this is just that they didn't want people to get sick.

Any such reports stems from a complete and utter moron who understands nothing about mass manufacturing.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat myself. Mass manufacturing works on two principles, and two principles only:

1. The more you order, the cheaper it gets

2. The earlier you order, the cheaper it gets.

If anyone thinks that Sony is ordering parts NOW and has price problems NOW really has a serious problem in understanding how things work in the industry. Neither Sony nor Microsoft give a shit about prices they'd currently would have to pay. All the stuff they need has been ordered months, if not years BEFORE NOW. Reason? See 2. Those deals have been sealed.

Maybe Sony is scrambling to change specs due to MS being transparent about the Series X specs. I mean, we knew since last E3 that Series X would target 12 teraflops

Any (significant) change in specs would ultimately mean a redesign of the SoC. This takes about 18-24 months and $100M, $200-300M if you want it within 12 months. Neither Sony nor Microsoft has been looking at the other guy when they sealed the cornerstones for their next console, roughly three to four years ago...

Ok that would totally crushed my opinion about the fact they will release it in 2021.

Ah yes, I forgot Sony already sent Devkits of PS5 to developpers :

So I guess it's for 2020...

But of course I still think the new consoles will be expensive...
