Not gona lie, op post is triggering me a bit, we talking about the worst DLC and op calls it decent and more of the same, more of the same is not that bad since the game is a blast to play and you could just play the DLC for the story and not bother with the other repetitive shit. Putting Spiderman DLC in the same spot as the câncer that was mass effect 3 online DLC , somenthing that kicked the loot boxes fever and helped Change the industry for the worst. And There is a shit ton of examples of shit DLC this GEN that the ONLY purporse is to suck the money of your wallet, or shit like horse armor or every shit released for that last fallout game etc.
Best DLCs ever was for masseffect2 , everything was fucking good. From software games DLCs are superb always and the Witcher 3 DLC was top tier.
Let me maybe clarify what I meant about Spider-man's DLC.
First off, before getting the DLC I had already platinumed Spider-man. That means by this time, I'd already done tons of warehouses, all of the Taskmaster challenges, stopped crimes in every district, and so on.
If someone hadn't played the game before, there would be nothing wrong with the Hammerhead bases in the DLC. The combat is of the game is good enough that beating waves of enemies is pretty fun. But even something that's fun gets boring when you do it enough. By the end of the game, bases were already wearing on me. Last thing I wanted to do was pay for more of them. Ditto for pretty much everything else of the side activities. And if I did want to do more of this stuff, I could have started a new file and raided enemy bases to my heart's content.
Sure I could just play the DLC for the story. The problem with that is twofold. First of each DLC pack took me 2-3 hours with doing the side missions. I'm pretty sure I could beat each of them in an hour or less without doing those. Which is a pretty terrible value. And even then, the story content really isn't that good. The villain was uninspired, the gameplay didn't offer much of a twist on the formula, the one boss fight was probably the worst in the game, and aside from maybe Black Cat, there's not a decent character arc to be found.
At the end of the day if I really wanted to play more Spider-man, I could have just made a new file. To be worth it DLC has to offer something beyond that, or what's the point? If someone today offered me ten bucks to play through the City that Never Sleeps, I'd probably turn them down.
