Although it seems to be only slightly isekai, I really enjoyed Grimgar. It is basically the opposite of overpowered character though.

Personally, I think isekai is the genre for teenagers.
However, i was able to enjoy the overload.

Escaflowne and Digimon Adventure 1

I have yet to see anything in the genre that I've really liked, so I'm going to go with one that doesn't really count: ReLIFE.

Unlike standard isekai, the main character isn't reborn in another world, he is reborn in the same world, just younger. However, due to this change, the show doesn't really get plagued by all of things I don't like about isekai (the light fantasy settings, the power fantasy full of self-insert characters, the episodic comedy backbone, the fanservice) and instead replaces it with a really well written and relatable character drama about struggling with seizing agency in your life and feeling trapped by your past choices and mistakes.

I really like this show. As someone who is the same age as the main character (27) and empathizes with many of his anxieties and struggles, it hit me pretty hard too. I strongly recommend it, especially if you are finished with college and just kind of floating through life without really knowing where you are going.

As someone else mentioned Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, it is awesome.
Overlord would be one of the better ones.
Re:zero started good for me but I started to dislike it later on because of the MC.
I really like SAO, it’s worth a watch if you enjoy the genre.
