You should change the headline to:

It does. Statistics 101.

Um, this survey is an abject failure between what it measured and what they are stating.
That doesn't mean "brand loyalty". That measures "brand interest". Brand loyalty is retaining the same brand on subsequent purchases. This isn't measuring that. It makes no distinction what brand console you currently or previously gamed on when stating which console brand you intend to purchase next.
That doesn't mean the survey is useless or doesn't hold value (nor is a knock at the people surveyed or their consoles of choice). It's just very irresponsible of the surveyor to label the results as something that they aren't.

Exactly (x2). The line from article that shows the lie most directly is this:
"Sony’s PlayStation and its four (soon to be five) iterations claimed the most dedicated customers"
If we're being seriously, we know that isn't true of all four iterations, is it?
PS2 to PS3 had ~45% sales drop, from total market domination to barely eking out nominal win w/ less software due to slow start.
So the idea Playstation fans are brand loyal across iterations is absolutely ridiculous.
Clearly they respond to market alternatives, and they respond to strengths and weaknesses of Sony's current offering.
So all the polling numbers (of limited sample) show is those people have good interest in Sony's PS5 product at this point.
Of course not all details of it are known, so maybe we can say they are happy with PS4 and what they know of PS5 they like.
OK, great. We can even say that even in with troubles of PS3, Sony was able to outsell MS who had 1 year head start,
Although "loyalty" is less likely than simple desirability of Sony's exclusive offerings (and regional popularity winning fence-sitters).
Trying to oversell it into ahistorical "brand loyalty" is absurd, almost half of PS2 audience ditched Sony for PS3 era, that's a fact.

Wow.

1) An echantillon of 1000 people is large. No, the size of the population doesn't matter, be it 1000, 1 million, 1 billion or 42 quadrillons.

2) The survey if for NOW. What happened 20 years ago doesn't matter.

3) You don't even understand the sentence. The sales might drop but you can still win the "brand loyality". If you keep 30% of your customers and the others only 20%, well ...

4) You didn't even read the survey. You saw the tile, the image then claimed "BULLSHIT". Next time, read it.

Is this worldwide? If so that 1/4 for series X compared to 1/3rd for PS5 is pretty good.

Other (please specify) - 2%.

What the hell are these 2% of developers that are most interested in developing games for.....refrigerator touch screens?

Tesla cars and Mixer probably.

Methodologically, this survey needs questioning. From where was this sample taken. Which part of the population are they from ? Socio-economic situation ? Gender/age ?

Too much is missing here for me to draw actual solid conclusion. At best it's probably just an internet survey, which are the most unreliable source of info when you're tasked with any research.

I bought a PS3 because the PS2 was iconic, I didn't want to pay to play online and I didn't like the fragility of Xbox 360s. (Not just RROD, But you couldn't hold them in certain ways, or move them when it was on etc, all of which weren't a problem on PS3's.) I also wasn't a big shooter fan and the main 360 exclusives were shooters, PS3 had more variety.

I bought PS4 because the console was designed way better, cheaper and more powerful, I knew the support for games would be great all the way until the last year. (PS3's last year in 2013 got Last of us, God of War: Ascension, Beyond 2 Souls, GT6 and more, Xbox 360 had 0 exclusives in it's final year) This trend only continued in this gen as Xbox One had far fewer quality exclusives and Sony absolutely killed it with games this gen.

Next gen is a little different, Due to me moving more to PC gaming as my PC is definitely more capable than both of the new consoles will be, if I do buy a PS5 (which I probably will, maybe not straight away) It will be for exclusives alone, as any Xbox game will come out on PC I will be able to play it there.

There has been whispers of Horizon and other games potentially coming to PC, so if Sony release all their Exclusives onto PC I will not be buying a console next generation, or if it happens whilst I have a PS5 I'll likely sell it.

As an Xbox fan I have to ask, does Xbox even have fans!? I just like the console but I'm not loyal to them.

Hey :)

Game Pass made me a fan all over again. I beat about 20 games on that service in 2019 that I wouldn’t have bought outright. Discovered gems like Hellblade through GP.

With the day 1 exclusive perk, MS has me for the foreseeable future. It’s the best deal in gaming imo. Plus I love Halo :)

So of the 1008 people they asked (gamers and non-gamers, they were asked a lot of non-gaming related questions), 30 of them claimed to have an Oculus Rift and 28 of them claimed to have a HTC Vive? (otherwise the percentages wouldn't be possible; 1/30 = 3.3% and 1/28 = 3.6%)

So at least 5.75% of the surveyed people (58/1008) have a PCVR headset?

Yeah, totally believable data.

Well believable or not they put much effort on researching.   Or else you can disprove with new formula and data with more scientific method it will be helpful .

I knew that since 2006. PS3 in its early years had no business selling as much as it did with all that bad PR. Only after MGS4 did it really earn its numbers imo

What about the 360? did it deserve to sell what it did with the ring of death ?

Honestly, most surveys of this kind are methodologically questionable and mostly just done to generate headlines and clicks.

They can be fun, but don't tell us much in terms of reliable concrete information.

I didn't think there would be a direct this week, cos I'm a pessimistic dunce.
