Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumor: According to Polish insider Cyberpunk 2077 delay because Xbox One (current gen base console)

This is why I have no interest in cyberpunk 2077 and the new avenger game, the current gen consoles just aren't design for those type of games. The CPU and the hard drive just can't handle it. And the gpu in Xbox one and with its esram probably also causing a lot of troubles.

Only 2 games I'm interest in atm for current gen consoles, Doom eternal and the last of us 2.

I mean who's surprised? Metro Exodus, RDR2 both run at 1536x864, that's even a step down from 900p.

I Imagine Cyberpunk will be 720p with lower details and more frame dips on Xbox One and 900p with better details and frame-rate on PS4.

720p is unacceptable in 2020 though but Jedi Fallen Order was 720p on Xbox One already (900p with better frame-rate on PS4)

That's why I didn't understand all the hype for 4K Blu-Ray Player in One S and people buying it instead of PS4, especially now that they released a disc less version of Xbox One S. You rather play games in 864p than 1080p just because you have 4K Player? Most Blu-Ray movies are upscaled to 4K anyway.

TLOU 2 is already confirmed to run at 1080p on PS4, so will Ghost of Tsushima and probably FF VII. PS4 aged like fine wine imo.

720p is not that bad with good post processing effects. I won't argue its ideal, but acceptable.

Jedi Fallen Order for example, DF mentioned it looks better than you'd suspect from the native resolution. The stutters were often more like load times during exploration. Not great optimization, but playable.

If you arent gonna play Xbox exclusives, then buying a PS4 over X1 makes sense. I'm not sure anybody would argue otherwise, unless you really enjoy physical 4K movies. Or maybe for social reasons, like friends on Xbox.

I kinda doubt FFVII is gonna be 1080p, given other titles using UE4 that have not been. So I'm leaning 50/50 on that. Unless it was already confirmed.

3 weeks ago I bought RX 5700 XT mainly for this game... it has been delayed to Septemeber since but I still hope I can max it at 1440p 60 fps with my new GPU.

Also this is a prime example that base Xbox One is already holding back current generation games, so can't imagine how hard on devs next 2 years will be.

No. If the X1 cant run at par with PS4 they can just reduce settings. Sometimes the X1 version also runs worse.

Developers dont treat X1 as the lead and its spec disparity isnt that far from PS4.

If developers are still supporting PS4 for two years, then supporting X1 isnt that much extra work. In fact, supporting PS3 was probably much more difficult to support than X1 give the difficult CPU and RAM limitations.

The promised support for X1 came from MS directly. They generally squeeze more out of X1 than expected.

So they are able to scale down The Witcher 3 to make it run on Switch without bigger performance issues but I'm supposed to believe that they have issues with making another game run on a more powerful system?
Seems doubtful.
Even if X1 was the reason, they decided to make a version for the console so they should've done some more testing prior to that.

I bet if The Witcher 3 was targeted with Switch in mind it will take longer than a year. The Witcher 3 on Switch was a  port rather then using the same assets and same code. They have to almost modified the entire assets to look like 7th gen games.

Not necessarily. Switch ports often have another studio scaling it back even if launching around the same time.

Switch ports technically use the same engine and assets as well. Just better optimized for Switch.

Recently we've seen that with most recent Wolfenstein, MK 11 and its happening with the Doom Eternal.

If it's got that much trouble on Xbone it's not like the vanilla PS4 version will be much better. Doesn't sound good for base Xbone/PS4 owners. Makes me uncomfortable even as a Scorpio owner. Maybe they should just delay it until next gen.

If this is anything like Jedi then 900p without drops with better details is definitely better than stuttery game at 720p which is las gen resolution (Xbone)

It's a crime they still sell 1.4 Tflops console at $299 in 2020.

The point is Jedi Fallen Order is still a functional product on X1. You made a bunch of posts trying to suggest otherwise.

Also, if you pay $299 for either PS4 or X1 you simply made no effort to pay less.

However, you have to consider PS360 stayed relatively expensive until the end.

Hopefully there will be a version optimized for next-gen systems.

I kinda feel like it should be the opposite if designing for consoles is really an issue. Something I am skeptical about.

There should be PC and next gen version. Along with something tweaked for 8th gen consoles.

Maybe this is just typical delays from a project not happening as smoothly as hoped. This isnt something new.

720p (last gen resolution) with horrible stuttering is barely functional in my book but sure.. I've seen a lot of people complain about stutters on YouTube.

If Cyberpunk ran at the same resolution with frame stutters I can see why CDPR delayed the game, no one wants to play a long anticipated game in such state.

720p is last gen resolution but with significantly lower visual fidelity. There is more to graphics than resolution smart guy. On side note 900p, thats what next gen is about.

Again, the stuttering in Fallen Order is mostly when you move to new big areas. Its like a load time. You're omitting that significant piece of information.

CDPR's primary concern should be making it perform well on PS4 for obvious reasons. The X1 version doesen't need to run or look as good, it can still be functional and sell fairly well. Much like Fallen Order.

Personally, I just think its typical delays.

Yet, there are still people who think it is viable to support "last gen" hardware for years to come.

Hunting Season is done...

Remember when people were saying that the Lockhart model of the XB1SX wouldn't cause games to be delayed? Yeah, I'm starting to have second thoughts about that.

Also, why not just release this on PC first, and delay it for consoles? It's not as if plenty of developers don't massively delay their PC releases, while releasing said game on consoles a year earlier. Case in point, Nioh 2. Launching on PS4 in a few months. As for the PC release, there's not even a date yet.

People go from Console to PC all the time.  GTA V, RDR 2, Monster hunter etc.

I suspect not many would actually go PC to Console. By that I mean buying the PC version. Completing it. Then getting it for console the next year.

So in theory releasing for the PC could hurt sales.  No clue if that is actually true - but it is the first thing I thought.

Yeah, that would mean PC versions get delayed in order to force people to doubledip. The thing is though, that CDPR has never been that sort of company. They run GoG for christ's sake! They are currently the most honest western developer. Maybe even the most honest and fair developer period.
