If they aim too high it's not the fault of the console to be too weak. You can't release a game on a console you know the specs of before you even started development and then say it's the console which is too weak.

Sure, XBO should have been a stronger console but devs know what it can and what not. It will also struggle to Reach 1080p on PS4. That shows that they just tried more than maybe possible to reach the performance people expect from their consoles

I mean who's surprised? Metro Exodus, RDR2 both run at 1536x864, that's even a step down from 900p.

I Imagine Cyberpunk will be 720p with lower details and more frame dips on Xbox One and 900p with better details and frame-rate on PS4.

720p is unacceptable in 2020 though but Jedi Fallen Order was 720p on Xbox One already (900p with better frame-rate on PS4)

That's why I didn't understand all the hype for 4K Blu-Ray Player in One S and people buying it instead of PS4, especially now that they released a disc less version of Xbox One S. You rather play games in 864p than 1080p just because you have 4K Player? Most Blu-Ray movies are upscaled to 4K anyway.

TLOU 2 is already confirmed to run at 1080p on PS4, so will Ghost of Tsushima and probably FF VII. PS4 aged like fine wine imo.

And here we have another reason for me to run away from Xbox S and go straight into Xbox X.

By the way I had no idea we had games even under 900p on the S. Also I felt there was something weird in Jedi Fallen Order for PS4, like if the resolutoin was subpar, even tried changing my TV setup. If you are right now it is explained why.

3 weeks ago I bought RX 5700 XT mainly for this game... it has been delayed to Septemeber since but I still hope I can max it at 1440p 60 fps with my new GPU.

Also this is a prime example that base Xbox One is already holding back current generation games, so can't imagine how hard on devs next 2 years will be.

I believe once we enter the new generation Microsoft and SOny will no longer care about the previous generation so much so devs should be able to release the games at 720p with no complains from microsoft.

So they are able to scale down The Witcher 3 to make it run on Switch without bigger performance issues but I'm supposed to believe that they have issues with making another game run on a more powerful system?
Seems doubtful.
Even if X1 was the reason, they decided to make a version for the console so they should've done some more testing prior to that.

I bet if The Witcher 3 was targeted with Switch in mind it will take longer than a year. The Witcher 3 on Switch was a  port rather then using the same assets and same code. They have to almost modified the entire assets to look like 7th gen games.

They are probably fighting to make the frame-rate stable without having to go below 720p. Once again Jedi was 720p and had frame-rate issues.

Yeah but a) nobody is forcing them to release a game at a minimum of 720p and b) they could still make performance (and resolution) adjustments post release.

It's not the first time we've seen games running far better after a couple of patches.

The game doesent look that amazing.

Worst case scenario, it probably runs like Mass Effect 1 on consoles.

Is that a troll post?

Legit asking...

I think the smart thing, all else being equal, would be to release it for PC now with high end specs with the understanding that it will run on PS5 and Series X when they launch.  That would actually make them a high profile launch game for the new consoles.  However, I wouldn't be surprised if they are getting a deal from Sony and/or Microsoft to launch the game on the current console.  That is the only real logical reason I can see why they'd make the game for current consoles.

I like to hope that they delayed because MS is acquiring the studio and making sure their own hardware is acceptable

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

If it's got that much trouble on Xbone it's not like the vanilla PS4 version will be much better. Doesn't sound good for base Xbone/PS4 owners. Makes me uncomfortable even as a Scorpio owner. Maybe they should just delay it until next gen.
