Globally in the US?

Fuck, I got nothing. Nextgenbox can't come fast enough at this point.



Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Impressive. I'm surprised that only two years had console sweeps in this decade.

Anybody have data on the 2000s? I assume the PS2 did so a few years in a row.

2001-GBA won June, July, Aug, Nov

2002-GBA won March, April

2003-GBA won March, April, May, June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec

2004-GBA won March, May, June, Xbox won April

2005-cant find any months other than Nov which GBA won

2006-DS won June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec

2007-2009 was dominated by DS/Wii

So nope, PS2 never had a year where it had every month.

It's hard to find monthly NPD sales figures prior to 2007. Even articles written about NPD reports commonly don't outline hardware sales.

I can confirm that the years 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 saw no sweep. I am doubtful that the PS2 got multiple sweeps because the GBA was selling a lot of units in a short timespan in the USA, around 35m from 2001 to 2006. So it's likely that the GBA won a month every now and then, because while the PS2 had higher lifetime sales than the GBA, its sales were spread across a bigger number of good years.
