Forums - Politics Discussion - Iranian General Killed by US Attack

Pathetic petty ass 45 instigates wars just to get the press off him for his crimes and boost his re-election chances. Completely disgusting. We need to get our noses out of everyone's business, especially in the middle east.

Turkey can annex chunks of Syria and shoot down Russian jets and yet Iran, China and Russia don't do a thing about it. The only country able able to stop Turkey taking even more land in Syria was the US.

What makes you think some General getting killed will lead to anything?

I don't need to say anything else right there.  You have no idea who we just killed.

You called North Korea a major military power. You have no idea what you're talking about.

What the hell was an Iranian general doing in a country that is not Iran's ally?

Who said Iran and Iraq don't have any relations? You don't seem to understand that Iraq and Iran have a had good backdoor relations for a while now

Sounds like wishful thinking

Let me guess: Trump has killed a general who was replaced by his successor an hour after the hit?

It's that extremely naive American viewpoint that I am puzzled, constantly. "Hey we killed the leader of AlKaida/<Insert enemy of the week>. Problem solved forever"...

Ahhh....so Trump should never have bothered trying to broker a treaty with NK regarding nuclear weapons and military aggression?  Doesn't matter because they aren't a major military power.  Can you go tell Trump that?

Also, I guess my essays, research papers and interviews with NK refugees during college means I don't know what I'm talking about.

Oh, and you still haven't given recognition about who we killed.  Quick question...if he's such a nobody general, why did we directly assassinate him?

He's their top dog. So what? You think him getting killed will lead to China, Russia and NK doing something? It won't.

Has Iran ever done anything besides uttering empty threads? I mean what are they gonna do here, invade the US? Considering the past decade it kinda feels even North Korea is a bigger threat than Iran.

Two reasons:

1. Divert attention away from Trump's impeachment proceedings.

2. To earn brownie points for Trump's re-election by showing US citizens that Trump isn't a dog that only barks, but never bites.

In the end it's a gamble on Trump's part that the tacticians of other countries are smarter than him and won't answer with a kneejerk reaction that can lead to a large scale war. Russia and China might be allied with Iran, but will either of those countries drag its people into a large scale war because one Iranian general got killed? Not likely. Very much a long shot.

Iran itself isn't going to do something crazy either, so ultimately Trump will probably get away with it which is par for the course in his life.

No, they won't.  But that's why they'll join the fight.  This is chess.  We can't think just one play at a time here.  Iran will retaliate.  Maybe with military, but maybe with a major cyber attack.  And then we'll retaliate with military.  It will escalate.  It is that escalation that will draw the other 2 in.  For China, it might not even be military intervention but economic.  Gut punch America's economy in the middle of a war?

The US has been pivoting away from Europe and the Middle East since before Obama. The US doesn't need their oil anymore. The chess game in the ME is between Iran, Saudi Arabia and the Otto- er Turkey. Turkey could single-handedly defeat Iran, kick Russia out of the region and annex whatever they like and they probably will as the US leaves to focus on the Asia-Pacific region.

Cyber attacks. They could also attack our allies rather than us directly.

And actual US invasion is extremely unlikely by any foreign nation thanks to our location more so than any military deterrence.

Or they could just do what they always do after threatening other countries. Nothing.

This was the first step in Trump's strategy to solve the major problems in the Middle East. Once the countries in the region recognize that they all have a common enemy in the USA who continues to interfere and create chaos to keep the Middle East unstable, they'll put down their weapons and stop killing each other.

I pity the fools who can't see the sheer brilliance in Trump's actions. Remember the quarrel with North Korea from not too long ago? That was supposed to be doomsday and World War III, but what actually happened is that the Korean peninsula is united again.

So according to you, Trump's "brilliant" plan is to make everyone hate the US? What's next, Pakistan and India? Israel and Palestine?

I wouldn't try taking RolStoppable seriously. In the years I've been here I don't think I've ever seen a post of his that wasn't shit-disturbing, outright trolling, or hilariously misguided/foolish. I'm convinced he's just doing this to get a rise out of others by saying the most absurd, foolish things he can think of while juuuuust staying inside the lines.

Another Evil bastard dead, we should all be happy that this prick is gone and now Iran can't pull this shit any longer. The true 'war' veing fought here is between The US and China but by proxy, If China wants to back Iran and Russia then so be it as far as I'm concerned. It won't happen which is the god aweful thing about it because our future is going to be far, far worse than anything short of Nuclear war can be. The entire worlds future is that of hong Kong and then a slow slip into full on control or decline in ruin. Freedom will never be an option again in the new world so a war now would be ideal. Pop the damn blister before it takes the whole body with the already spreading infection.

How typical of what I presume to be a trump supporter. All about bravado and gung ho and short-term gains traded for long term losses and irreparable damage.

You and your precious 45th need to think ahead and realize there are consequences for your actions beyond just negative press and the hatred of half his own country. This isn't just about killing bad people and getting away with it, it's about the fallout from that action...you shortsighted, foolish person.
