They definitely need to save Cortana in Infinite imo. She is an essential part of the franchise imo, the voice the players hear most of the time since Chief is a largely silent character. Without her there to push the narrative forward, they pretty much have to always rely on team missions in the future, they can never do solo Chief missions again unless they make Chief talk alot more or give him another AI, and I'm not sure that either of those options are good ideas.

The trailers sure seem to hint at Chief saving Cortana. In one trailer, you see Chief walking up to a Forerunner hologram and pulling an empty data chip out of the socket in the back of his helmet, with the Hologram seemingly merging into a person as he does so, with a flashback of Cortana's voice being heard, but in the other trailer we see the data chip lit up and Chief putting it back into his helmet, meaning that it contains an AI. I can't see Chief getting another AI besides Cortana, so hopefully 343 designed that as a tease that Chief will rescue Cortana in Infinite.

I'm fine with that, as long as they cure her rampancy so we don't have to deal with another game trying to save Cortana.

Though I was interested in seeing Chief's emotional state after losing Cortana, shame we didn't see that at all in Halo 5 and they instantly brought her back.

They'd likely have to bring Mendicant Bias in, he's one of few AIs that have overcame rampancy. Though I think Guilty Spark has also overcame his rampancy and he's closer to Cortana in that, they're both based on humans, Cortana being a clone of Halsey's brain and Guilty Spark straight up being someones consciousness and memories transferred into a robot.

Learn from the audio designers of Borderlands 3 and Gears of War 5 around how a collaboration between Microsoft, Dolby, and our middleware partners kicked off a revolution with spatial sound that turns any pair of headphones into a multi-dimensional gateway to another world. Attendees will dive deep into the audio design pipeline (Project Acoustics) and the relationship to dedicated hardware-acceleration on newer generation Xbox consoles.

And another former Microsoft 2nd party studio is lost. Saber Interactive, who worked on Halo CE Anniversary, Halo MCC, and Halo Online previously, has been acquired by Embracer Group (parent company of THQ Nordic) for $525m.

Eh, I wouldn't say "lost" since Embracer is multiplatform and if I read right, Saber is acting autonomous like Deep Silver and THQ Nordic are so I'd expect Saber will continue with their porting/assistance efforts (Gotta make money) and work on original IP.

Guess it's a loss in the sense that Microsoft could have acquired them, although honestly I don't care about Saber, if they were going to acquire a Halo support studio it should be Certain Affinity.

Also Saber is way bigger than I thought, 450 employees with 5 studios across the world, Embracer acquired them for $150 million up-front and another $375 million over three years based on performance which sounds way overpriced to me.

Yeah, was an expensive acquisition for sure. THQ Nordic paid more for Saber than Sony paid for Insomniac, who recently developed a Spider-Man game that sold over 13m copies xD Saber hasn't released any big hit basically since Halo CE Anniversary, they're mostly a porting and remaster studio these days, albeit a good one (the Witcher 3 Switch port is fantastic I hear).

But I have a feeling I know why THQ Nordic was willing to pay so much for them, fact is that THQ Nordic owns far more IP's than studios (they have several dozen IP's that they've acquired in auctions at cheap prices over the years), and if they want to actually revive some of the more popular IP's they own like Red Faction, Kingdoms of Amalur, and Timesplitters, they need large multi-team studios which can work on multiple projects at once, and Saber can do just that since they have 5 studios and 450 devs.

Sloooooooowly, Infinite announcements are coming, small announcements but it's something, hope it's the beginning of a marketing build up.

With how Halo 5 ended we will likely see a fair amount of the Arbiter in the beginning of Halo Infinite. If I remember correctly it was only the Infinity, the two Spartan teams from the game and the Arbiter and his followers who weren't captured by the Guardians.

Yeah, so it would also make sense to bring Spirit of Fire into it too, Infinity can't take on the entire galaxy of angry AIs alone.

My prediction is that Infinity will be destroyed early on in Infinite too, I think Infinity is likely the cause of that huge hole in the Halo ring, makes sense with the marines scattered across the ring too, unless Chief went on a random solo journey and left Infinity to go explore a ring which also had stranded marines and a random hole in it.

Would be hype though, if Infinity is destroyed, we get stranded on the ring, regroup with everyone and send out a distress signal, Spirit of Fire receive it and come to rescue Chief + Infinity Crew, Chief sees Red Team emerge from the ship (Reunion time) but Atriox follows Spirit of Fire and that's how we get Atriox into the game too.

🥱 bro you never disappoint me with your bedtime stories, they surely make me sleepy 😴. Can’t wait for Halo games without a 1980s Rambo 😃

Locke is as much of a Rambo as Chief. We forgetting that opening scene of them gliding effortlessly through dozens of enemies slaughtering them all? Or Locke casually strolling in and taking down a Shipmaster Elite like he was a Grunt.

I'm going retro.

Currently playing through Crimson Dragon. Not that bad. Decent launch game. Don't ask me why I chose to play this after AC Odyssey.

Why did you start playing it? 😀

I guess it’s an easy to pick up and play game. I been wanting to play it for a while.
