Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What will be your second platform of choices for next gen after Switch (outside PC/smartphones/cloud gaming)

My second consoles will be

PS5 34 73.91%

Xbox X 11 23.91%

Xbox S 1 2.17%

Total:46

Bought an Xbox for the first time this gen. Never doing that again.

NintendoxSony all the way.

PS4. Games will be cheaper by then.

Really it depends on the games offered, and they damn well better not be like Stadia.

Interesting how people already have established console preferences despite having no idea on what the hardware/games/price is going to be.

Personally I will go with whatever console offers the most powerful hardware.

Interesting that you've already decided to get the most powerful console having no idea on what features/games/price is going to be. ;p

I am a hardware enthusiast, so not really that interesting.

I am a hardware enthusiast  <Fill in the Blank>, so not really that interesting.

There fixed it. Now everyone has a reusable template for your first question.  You asked and answered - that's impressive.

  • Deadliest mass shooting by an individual in US history (10/01/2017)
  • Deadliest high school shooting in US history (02/14/2018)
  • Deadliest massacre of Jews in US history (10/27/2018)
  • Political assassination attempt of TWO former presidents(and 10+ other people)  (10/23/2018 - and beyond)

Nah mate.

The difference there is... People are buying purchasing decisions irrespective of hardware specs, games or price.

Where-as I will base my purchasing decision on hardware specs.

See the difference?

I'll probably go with the Series X or S for Halo.

Hardware will increase. That is a fact. A 100% fact. Consoles will have exclusives (XB+PC+Switch still counts). That is a fact. A 100% fact.

Actually I do see a very small difference. That involves me telling a story.

I didn't get an XB1 day one. I got one because it was part of a Samsung bundle. My goal was three games. SSO, QB, Scalebound.

Scalebound failed, and I have never used my XB console again (although recore intrigues me). If I day one bought an X series - I may risk having no games to play on it because I'm picky.

I bought a PS2 day one. I Bought a PS4 day one. I've regretted nothing.  There is 0% chance that I will regret getting a PS5.

So there is no difference. You know you will get the best hardware - I know I will get a console that plays exclusives I want.

Then get a PC? I mean, it has the widest variety of games, the more freedom to mod and alter to your personal taste, and is nearly entirely backwards compatible.

I don't understand how, in this modern era, anyone could care more about graphics and performance than gameplay and innovation. I'd take a thousand switches and even WiiUs over a single Xbox One X by simple virtue of the fact that those consoles did something new and interesting and had games that were fun. The Xbox One X did the same thing the Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One did but prettier and with silkier framerate.

To me, that's like saying The Hobbit movies were better than Lord of the Rings becuase the visual effects were more impressive and the movie was filmed and released in 48fps instead of the cinema standard of I think 24 (might be 30). The film industry knows that prettier effects don't make a movie better, so why do so many gamers still genuinely act like better graphics make a game better? This isn't the 90's anymore, we collectively know better than to assume that graphics>Gameplay now.

I got it all, baby!

PS4, Switch, WiiU, XBO, PC
Vita, 3DS, Android

Top 6 this generation:
Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, God of War, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dark Souls III, Red Dead Redemption II

Where’s the “None” option?

I’ll never buy an Xbox and haven’t been interested in PlayStation since PS2.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
