The Evergrowing Backlog of 2019

Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Evergrowing Backlog of 2019

I've finished everything I cared to finish apart from the game I'm playing now, Ashen on ps4 and I'm holding on judgment until I'm in the wood for it's style. So many games that lost me mid way though like The outer worlds and Just cause 4 and a lot I bought but havn't got any patience fir the genre like Observer and Darksiders 3.
Finished 24 games so far out 40 to 50 that I paid for and a few freebies I claimed. Got 5 platinums. It's been a pretty good year in these terms.

Xbox Gamertag: Versus Evil

"Wheel me out to the curb for garbage day"

This is fun! I'd also like to share my backlog. But it really is not that big, since I do not include games I own and started but have ultimately given up on.

I already started and will keep playing:
1) A Way Out
2) Kingdom Hearts 3
3) dreams
4) No Mans Sky

Still have to start:
1) AstroBot Rescue Mission

Here starts more of a philosophical, or virtual backlog, since it concerns games I do not own and also some that are still to come out in the future.
Still have to buy on PS4:
1) Donut County 2) Wattam 3) RE2 Remake 4) RE 3 Remake 5) Days Gone 6) Untitled Goose Game 7) Superliminal 8) The Stanley Parable 9) Jedi Fallen Order 10) Sekiro 11) Return of the Obra Din 12) Nier Automata

Still have to buy on PS5:
1) The Last of Us Part II 2) Death Stranding 3) Ghost of Tsushima 4) FF VII Remake (all in one if possible)

What counts as backlog is up for debate I guess. To me its not just games I own, but all games I still have to play. Though I draw the line on games that have not been anounced yet - surely I will play the next iteration of God of War, but this would be a slippery slope approach, since there are quite a few games that could potentially exist at some point.

Ugh, my backlog is getting a little ridiculous. I still have Wii games I need to play. Hell, there are still a few Wii games I want to buy. Still some Wii U games. Still some 3DS games. And an ever expanding list of Steam games. Most of those are games I missed from the last gen, so when they go on sale for like $5, they are hard to resist.

Being an adult sucks.  No time to play.

Now Playing/Backlog:
Wii U - Currently Gaming Like It's 2014 (Hyrule Warriors) - 11 games in backlog
3DS - Currently Gaming Like It's 2013 (Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon) - 7 games in backlog
PC - Currently Gaming Like It's 2012 (Borderlands 2) - 11 games in backlog
Mobile - The Simpson's Tapped Out and Yugioh Duel Links

The backlog is concept is shit.

If a game has been lingering in your shelf for months or eve years, or you feel compelled to play something merely because it was critically aclaimed or because it's part of franchise X or Y, then what about just not playing it and letting it go?

You aren't really interested on it, on all likelihood. Just do it - it's liberating.

I guess it's because not playing something you bought is wasting money. And people don't like wasting money.

Or maybe you really want to play it but there's tons of other games that you also want to play and they're even more interesting? I know that's the case for me.

Or you just simply don't have time to play video games due to whatever reason.

Ah the backlog. It is a bit big... I'm going to only include games that I bought in 2019 otherwise it's going to be too long.

Right. Kind of goes to extend what I said: Instead of having other games to play, there's other stuff in general that gets higher priority.
