MK has always been a one title per platform title it's also part of the reason sells so well anything they want to add they just do DLC the's no real reason for them to deviate from this MK8 will be the top selling title in the franchise by the end of next year and by the end of the NS life time the switch version alone may have outsold MKWii. Releasing multiple installments not only hurts the strategy MK employs but also adds new costs and use of resources on what would not necessarily bring in more sales for example a single MK game may sell 30m as a system seller without being cut off while with multiple installments it may sell 15m or so as the legs in sales get disturbed as the two games essentially overlap in doing the same thing and compete with each other sure both games may sell 15m and you get 30m or more sales overall for the series anyway but then you had to use added resources to make the second game so effectively you possibly end up making less money going this route with a series that did fine with out it.

Games like Mario platformers and Zelda are a different case as unlike MK which is designed for as well as in a genre that allows for continuous replay value the former game series even with their open designs (especially BOTW) are at some point going to need a refresh due to factors like the game world and story becoming too familiar to the player after a while and so on which in their case a new installment compliments them rather than competes with them.

If I were Nintendo, I would save Mario Kart 9 to be the killer app launch title for Switch 2. By then it'll be the first new MK in 9 years, with all the pent up demand plus the already massive power of the IP, it would be a system seller of epic proportions.

Nah its gonna be Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Ultimate

Dont worry, it will be accompanied by the cross-gen Breath of the Wilder

Sorry but no. Mario Kart only comes out one per system. Same is not true for zelda so that doesn't make sense. Mario Kart already came out on Switch, gotta wait for Switch 2 for the next one.

Unless you can show me where Nintendo has made that a rule, then what you're saying makes no sense. Everything ever at one point hadn't been done before.

It's been obvious for over 2 years that MK8D is the Switch's Mario Kart, when it became obvious it was selling like a new Mario Kart and not just an old port that a few million would pick up. You're arguing a losing battle buddy. Smash and Mario Kart happen once per generation. That ain't changing. Unless you can show me where Nintendo has made any reference to wanting to start bringing out multiple Mario Karts per generation (which would be a terrible idea) your argument is dead on arrival.

Next week the switch should be over double everything else combined. Wonder if we'll see adjustments later.

If you don't plan on playing it handheld too much, a Pro Controller will absolve you of that issue.

I actually play primarily on handhelds these days, so yeah >.<

I wonder what he's looking at, Switch still seems readily available at all major retailers. Today is the worst day to be low on stock, 2nd biggest shopping day of the year.

Oh dear, not again. I'd hoped we were passed this after 2017. Hope it doesn't cut into sales too much.
