The lack of information makes me worry about a potential delay. AC is one of the most popular IPs Nintendo has, and it doesn't quite feel like we are just two months away.

That would be unfortunate, it's already been delayed once. I don't think it will be delayed, there was a fair bit of information released for it so far. Should have a direct next month about it.

I personally don't want any more information on Animal Crossing. I hate spoilers and I really hate when developers showcase so much about their titles before they release. Even the last video of Animal Crossing was just too much for my taste. Certainly I don't want to see the game get delayed since I'm reaching a fever pitch of expectation for this title, but if they stay dark until a week before release it won't bother me. Is there really something people are waiting to see before they decide to get this game?

I agree that learning too much about a game before release can certainly impact my experience, but it also depends on the game. For example, I would want to know as little as possible going into a Soulsborne game, or a Zelda game (although it might be hard to resist the urge to check promo material).

There are some things about AC:NH I'm wanting to know. I'd really like to know the scope of the game. Like how many total furniture items there are, or maybe how many themes/sets are in the game. How big is the "town"? I want to learn more about the crafting system, and if there is any sort of character progression in terms of leveling up your tools/skills.

I read that there is "one island per Switch", and that you will share the island with everyone who uses the same Switch. I'm looking forward to playing this with my daughter. She has her own Switch Lite, but I'm not sure if we will be able to utilize it. We are thinking that we want to share the same island, but I'm guessing the only way to do that would be if we used the same Switch.

It would be really cool if we could share the same island and use both Switches to play at the same time, but that seems more like wishful thinking.

Well it is supposed to be a 8 player multiplayer game.  That might be difficult for Nintendo to obtain the net code for that.   And people were begging for a Pokemon MMO....

It's still due for end of March right? I'll probably get switch then and use some paid time off for a week off. Least I have a 100 dollar gift card to GameStop so that will help knock the price down

Yup March 20th to be exact. Are there other games you're interested in on Switch or is it purely for Animal Crossing?

I have a virus installed on my desktop.  It is called steam.  I already have too many games.  Plus there is this thing called work.  All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I'm with you raptor. I'd like to not really know too much but there are some things I want to know. The main thing I want to know is if they spread the cancer of DLC to AC. Are they willing to shit on one of best series games they have all for a little extra money. I pray to Thor, God, or any mythological beast that they don't shit stain their series with the likes of a company like EA would do to one of their IPs.

Another outlier is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate where the popularity of the game has caused the introduction of a second fighters pass, but the new fighters still have to be purchased as a package as individual purchases are not possible.

You can buy each of the five "challenger packs" included in the first fighters pass seperately. I imagine the second fighters pass will also offer it's six pieces of content as individual purchases too.

DLC for first party Switch games has been virtually all about expansion passes. A single significant one-time payment ($20, $25 or $30 depending on the game) gets you a notable amount of additional content, individual content purchases are impossible. The only outliers, that I can think of right now, have been Mario+Rabbids and Fire Emblem Warriors, both of which had a season pass as well as the option to buy individual DLC pieces. Another outlier is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate where the popularity of the game has caused the introduction of a second fighters pass, but the new fighters still have to be purchased as a package as individual purchases are not possible.

In light of Nintendo's quite consistent DLC strategy for Switch, it would already be surprising if Animal Crossing received multiple smaller DLC packs that go for $5-10 each. EA-type stuff can be safely ruled out. But you should expect an expansion pass that costs $20-30 because a lot of Nintendo's popular Switch games have got one. More often than not, the content of the expansion passes has justified their respective price, so if we go by track record, Animal Crossing should be fine with and without an expansion pass.

Yea I suppose you are right.  Least Nintendo treats DLC like companies used to with computer game expansion packs.  There is actually enough content in pack to warrant purchase.
