x-ray is a feature, where if you pause the video, it shows IMDB-information for the actors in the current scene.

And the first three seasons are on Blu-Ray (at least here in europe), so I expect it too for the next ones.

If you do the free trial The Boys and Carnival Row are both worth checking out.

I ordered the first 3 seasons on blu-ray and the book set. I wanted to re-watch them anyway and read the books as well. Together it's quite a bit more than a year membership to prime but I like to have it on my shelf, next to my Westworld blu-ray set and the rest of my sci-fi collection. Hopefully Amazon will realize they can make more money by releasing a season 4 blu-ray. I'm not interested in what else is on Prime or their business model. At least Picard is coming to sci-fi channel in Januari :)

Around the Network

On Thursday I notice around 9pm the new season was available on amazon prime. Figured I watch 2 or 3 episodes before bed.......I finished the season around 6am. Another great season, I just hope I can get my sleep schedule back on track before work on Monday.

Just finished the season. I give it a 7/10. There are some issues, but overal I enjoyed it. Lot's of new things happening at once and some great acting to go with it.

Here's the spoilers:

Spoiler!
So a lot of open ended stuff. And not enough tie ups of plots in this one. It seems like all a big set up for the next upcoming season(s). The only open ended thing was the blue goo on the Roci, which I think was a writers screw up. The blue goo should have taken over the Roci by now so I think this was a bs plothole they wanted to get rid of quickly. As for the rest.. yeah too much of a mystery at this point. Why are martians working with belters? Just throwing some rocks to earth? Really? Hasn't that been tried before.. The entire thing with Avaserala felt like a waste, as did Bobby's story for most of the season. Besides, kinda disappointed with her. Come on, should have been Alex's waifu. The mystery of the planet is still a huuuge question mark. Still no clue what happened. I NEED to know more.

All I can say is that I want more.

I miss the old days, looking forward to the next episode each week, then discuss it after it aired. It's just my nostalgia talking, going over to friends to watch the new episode of TNG on tv while having dinner together. It was a long time ago in a different country far away lol, no commercials during the shows on tv!

Instead of caving in to amazon prime, I watched the shape of water on blu-ray then started death stranding to run right into guillermo del torro again!

Spoiler!

My understanding is that for Miller to communicate with Holden Protomolecule had to be within a certain range.  Also since the protomoecule is sentient it has the ability to not cause it self to spread.  It wanted to stay how it was and hidden so it could continue to communicate with Holden to help achieved it goal. It might of became a issue after it realize Holden would not help it any longer after the events on the planet but miller told him location so they was able to get rid of it before it had a chance to cause a problem.

Oooooooh that makes sense! Thanks for clearing that one up.

The only thing I watched with friends was sports and wrestling, where commercials are part of the charm (because they let you mute the tv and give you a chance to talk).

As far as Amazon Prime goes, it's pretty damn good IF you add all the benefits together.  I have primarily for the free shipping, second for the free books.  If it was just for the video content, though, it wouldn't be on my radar.  Still, I admit that it's come in super handy because I have a lot of free time at work.  I download a bunch of stuff on my Fire tablet and watch it when I'm bored.

True, but I get free shipping anyway since I rarely order stuff under the free shipping minimum and it arrives the next day. I ordered the Expanse blu-rays yesterday and they were here this morning, on a Sunday, free shipping.

I'm already subscribed to Netflix since my wife and kids watch that too and there's plenty to watch on there to get another video streaming service. Nvm I'm behind on Mr Robot and still have the whole 3rd season of Better call Saul waiting on the cable pvr.

Books I still like to read on real paper, reading from a tablet is not for me.

Anyway, I'm first going to enjoy the first 3 season again, this time on blu-ray without commercials and in DTS HD-MA 5.1 with bonus features. It's not the price, I just like owning things I really like and watch it without internet problems or compromised sound. Hopefully Amazon will publish season 4 on blu-ray!

I've switched entirely to Paperwhite Kindle.  My mom has, too, despite swearing she never would.  You couldn't pry her away from her Kindle with a crowbar, now.  Me either, to be honest, especially since I mostly read in low-light or no-light situations.  Paperwhite display is infinitely better for reading than a tablet.

Yeah that's the difference. I mostly read during summer, outside in the full sun. Winter is for movies and tv series :)

The whole idea that I would ever need to charge or change the batteries on a book or download something to it puts me off. I also tend to leave my book outside, read next to the pool or sometimes while floating in the pool. And flipping the page is part of the experience!

One day maybe. It gets harder and harder to get a simple paperback of older stuff.
