Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumor: Tony Hawk and Activision are working on a new Pro Skater game

"The gossip derives from industry journalist and verified rumour mill Sabi, who recently revealed that Activision had developed a number of remade prototypes of skateboarding classics THPS 1 and THPS 2, and that they were being shared around the company's offices for reasons that are yet to be made clear.

Sabi reports to have been in possession of this information for some time, but wasn't sure whether these demos could prove the existence of an entirely new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game, but corroborated sourcing from another journalist - Liam Robertson - now seems to confirm the inevitable: the acclaimed skating franchise is making its long overdue comeback. "

"Today's rumours about a new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game being in the works have been seemingly confirmed via a resurfaced interview from October with professional skateboarder Lizzie Armanto. Speaking on The Nine Club podcast last month, Armanto was asked about her appearance in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, before stating that "he's coming out with another one, and I'll be in that too.""

Sabi is a source that is rather trustworthy. While sabi has no insider knowledge, he gets his info from hacking servers usually. And now that a pro skater is saying Tony is making another one, it sounds like we will be getting 6 or a remake. Activision involvement isn't of course confirmed. Hopefully it's not a disaster like the previous one.

They should just fully reboot it and just leave the number off the end. I do have a important query Activision...

Will it have Bam Magera in it?

Didn't they make one earlier this gen that was poorly recieved?

To say the least, it was rough. Seems it had some development issues along with a tight deadline due to Activision's Tony Hawk license ending soon at the end of the year.

No one is excited that there might be a new Tony Hawk game coming :(

When did they renew the license? Considering the last game was a glitchfest, I would've assumed they would give the license to someone else.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I heard it's a remake of the one of the earlier games with modern graphics.

I grew up playing a bit of the original games on the PS1 so this should excite me but I have 0 trust in Activision after what they did with the last game.

I loved THPS1 and 2, and bought the 5 for nostalgia but haven't played yet. Doesn't seem a good game.

I remember them making Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD for the PS3 and 360 last generation. It was a psuedo-remake of THPS 1 and 2, with 3 as DLC. I say psuedo-remake because only 3 levels were from THPS1, 4 levels were from THPS2, and 3 levels were from THPS3.

Anyway, the game was awful. The physics were not just wrong, they were a glitchy mess. Half the songs were from the original games, that part was good. The other half of the songs were just awful, and there were only 14 included songs to begin with (Total, THPS 1, 2 and 3 have 48 songs...yet they only sought to include 7 of them). Then there were baffling omissions like the lack of a split-screen multiplayer mode and park editor.

Basically, it was a bad game. Even worse they used similar assets for THPS5 which ended up being an even worse mess than the HD collection was. It'd need to be really good for me to buy THPS again.
