I really didn't think the Switch would pas the Xbox One until early next year. The combination of the harsher decline in ales than I expected plus the Switch and Pokemon really caught me off guard.

Yeah earlier this year and last I was expecting a 2020 overtake as well, but Xbone sales deteriorated a lot faster than I anticipated.

I just noticed on the worldwide sales overview graph, that it is Super Mario Maker 2 who seems to have definitly terminated the PS4 domination, after the release of SMM2, there was no any more week with PS4 first. Last ultimate PS4 1st position could be in 2 weeks on Black Friday

That makes sense, Mario Maker 2 was the system's first real big release for the year, and after that it got a veritable avalanche of software over the following months, whereas in the first 5.5 months of the year its release schedule was quite anemic.

Yep, before SMM2 released the biggest 1st party titles were NSMBU & Yoshi (both Q1) which are nice support titles but not massive system sellers and with SMM2 releasing in the last week of June NSW almost went an entire Q without a major title.

If Fire Emblem hadn't been delayed from Spring to July than it would have been a pretty solid H1 linuep.

Jan-Fitness Boxing, New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe

Feb-Tetris 99 (eShop)

March-Yoshi's Crafted World

April-Labo VR, Boxboy+Boxgirl (eShop)

May-Fire Emblem: Three Houses

June-Cadence of Hyrule (eShop), Super Mario Maker 2

It really just needed one big game to stand out in mid-Spring to make H1 go from meh to pretty good.

Thankfully this shouldn't be a problem next year with Animal Crossing coming in March, plus hopefully some medium-tier games we don't know about yet.

I agree. Nintendo should release one or two medium size games between AC and Holiday 2020. I'm sure they have AAA and AA game planned to release in Holiday 2020.

Yeah Nintendo usually has a good second half of the year, it's the first half where they tend to struggle a bit.

I'm gonna be optimistic for a sec and say there's a decent chance they'll have Bayonetta 3 and BOTW2 for the second half of 2020, as well as several significant releases yet to be announced, just like how Astral Chain, Mario Maker 2, Link's Awakening, and other 2019 games weren't announced this time last year.

Moster Switch sales! Can't wait to see what the next few weeks will look like! PS4 very much down from last year but still holding very strong! XB1 it is there and the Vita just won't give up lol.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

PSN: StlUzumaki23

That's a pretty good beatdown.

I see Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition as a June release, for the 10th anniversary of the original game. I know isn't properly a system seller, but still I think it's one of the most beautiful JRPG ever made
