And yet BotW just won it and past winners like Overwatch or Dragon Age were nothing special technically. Furthermore you said Nintendo games “get scores” based off this nonsense so you’re talking about reviewers as a whole and not just Dorito Pope and his crew 😆

Indeed. A 90 rated game on NS is like a 70 rated game on PS4/XB1. BOTW was without a doubt the worst pick for GOTY, It's like the collective gaming community had a brain fart. lol

Hey if you’re cool with spouting nonsense and making yourself look foolish, who am I to stop you

GOTY awards this year are looking pretty shit and grim for me, but that's nothing unusual or special, as the last 4-5 yrs worth of awards have been like that for me.

I'm expecting one of the console based games to take the award. Man, it's been 10-15yrs since the last time a PC game won an award, but that's unlikely to be a thing anytime soon either. These awards are fast becoming a typical and easy to read version of Hollywood Oscar awards, which is lame.

Overwatch won in 2016. Yes it's also on consoles but it's main install base is on PC.

2019 was relatively poor year for games, many of the sequels were dissapointing and people are crying over Death Stranding potentially winning lmao.

But in 2016 Overwatch winning over Uncharted 4 was just criminal offence... a game without a freaking single player campaign...

There should be Multiplayer only category for sure...

I respectfully disagree. Uncharted 4 was an uneven game not reaching the heights of its predecessors (especially UC2) while Overwatch was a fresh take on FPS games that I personally still play to this day.

Good for Death Stranding to have so many nominations, all of them actually deserved. It will win some of them i think, but i'm pretty sure GOTY is going to be Smash Bros Ultimate. A GOTY caliber game of course, highly popular among critics and players. It's just that is going to be a little weird that a game from 2018 receives a GOTY award in 2019, but ey, those are the rules and i'm going to accept that.

Off topic: I just want to say that Uncharted 4 is indeed a masterpiece, one of the best action/adventures games ever and was by far the best video game of 2016. It's impressive how the bar is always so much higher with Sony's games than with anyone else for some people. Is cool to be a contrarian i guess...

Well it's Naughty Dog's fault for setting the bar so high with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Uncharted 4 is actually my second favorite Uncharted. I played without big expectations and loved it.

Most people share this opinion.

Been trying to vote for a couple of days now, but I just get the message:

"Due to a wacky failure in the main frame. Uh, something along the lines of... HTTP 0 error occurred while trying to access"

Anyone else get the same message?

Ill be skipping the Game Awards, seems to be a popularity contest rather than best game.

Plenty of good games get shafted for weaker entries.

No Gears 5 and probably my GOTY in Luigis Manson 3 didnt make the cut because of.. well who bloody knows.
