The crazy thing about Dark Fate is that the awful "twist" that ruins everything at the start of the movie was the idea of James Cameron. It's insane, he butchered his own previous success and the franchise that made him a household name. To think he would do the same thing they did to Aliens with Alien 3 is baffling to me.

Anyway, fuck him and fuck this movie. I hope it crashes and burns so this awful story gets no sequels.

Well, I think Cameron has lost his touch in the past decade or so.  He thought that twist would be a good thing for the franchise.  He, also, honestly thinks that there are enough people out there that actually care about the Avatar universe that he can make Avatar sequels for the rest of his career.  A movie that made a shit ton of money off of the Real 3D hype, yet didn't impact popular culture, at all.  People don't know the names of the characters from the film or quote anything from it, either.

I'm soooo glad I got that spoiler early on. I would have been REALLY pissed if I had paid my money to see that (like, TLJ-level pissed).

Yes, Dark Fate will almost certainly be the lowest grossing of the Terminator movies, but it has almost nothing to do with your anti-(whatever you're angry about this time) stance. Try to think a little more objectively about it.

The three movies before this ranged from not very good to terrible. At this point, it has been nearly 30 years since there has been a good Terminator movie. It holds no cache with younger audience and there is only so many times that older fans will get burned before tuning out. Even when the movie is better than it's predecessors, as this one was. Given the franchise history, this movie had to be more than better than the previous movies to get people to come out again. It had to be great. And, frankly, it was just fine. Not great, not terrible. Worth seeing, but maybe not in theaters.

Who's angry?  At this point, I think it's freaking hilarious to watch these films either flop or greatly underperform.  It's cyclical, really.  Director and crew inserts woke message into the film, many times a franchise that has already proven itself, and advertises as such a big deal.  Fans react badly to said message.  Director and/or crew calls those fans misogynist trolls or a similar statement.  Movie performs poorly, either as a whole or against expectations.  Those who agreed with the woke message come up with poor reasons why that woke message and the attacks on the fans had nothing to with the poor performance.  Rinse and repeat.

I was planning on killing myself if it hadn't passed the Bechdel Test.

I'm glad it did, then. Don't want to lose you, man.

Thanks for the sentiment. Much appreciated.

But if there isn't an A-Team reboot-reboot, with a gender swapped cast, confirmed within the the next year or so, I might decapitate myself at the train tracks.

Dark Fate was probably the worst Terminator movie in the series. It was pretty much a rehash of T2 and brought nothing new to series.

Don't know if the A-Team thing will happen.  But, I'm sure Hollywood will put something gender swapped out, since it's such an original idea, so don't lay on those tracks anytime soon.

Likewise. I got spoiled and I'm glad I didn't spend my money on this dumpster fire.

Unfortunately I spent money on this and this is the last time James Cameron will get a piece of my money.  I will never trust any of his work he does ever again.  F*** his upcoming Avatar movies lol

lol at anyone being dumb enough to think this would've made a ton of money if they just didn't have "woke politics". There's barely anything political about this film and "strong female lead" is already a staple of the Terminator franchise from day 1. Sarah Connor is the main character for T1 and T2 (yes she is the protagonist, she makes the decision to go after Miles Dyson and thus is driving the plot) and Genisys, Jordana Brewster becomes the co-lead of T3.

The franchise is just tired, I love Arnold but no one wants to see a 70 year old Terminator, it became a joke in the movie basically.

The 80s and 90s are over, Madonna isn't topping the pop charts, neither is Britney for that matter, times change, the only IP really relevant from the 70s/80s/90s today in a major way to the point it can carry a movie is Star Wars and there's not much else past that.

Kids don't want to see that old ass shit that's been done before already. Total Recall remake bombed, Robocop remake bombed, Terminator Genisys bomed, Ghostbusters bombed, Alien Covenant bombed, Tron did so-so, Blade Runner box office was a dud but a solid movie, Red Dawn bombed, Independence Day 2 was a bomb, Men In Black 4 was a bomb, The Predator (2018) bombed, Rambo: Last Blood fizzled out hard too.

The only one that maybe did pretty well was Creed, which is a Rocky "remix", and that brought more of a fresh energy to it by making Apollo Creed's son Adonis the lead character, but as I said it's becoming rare for these reboots of 80s/90s IP to do well.

Dark Fate has dropped another ~60%, grossing only $4.38M in its 3rd weekend. The FBO has also completely fallen apart for it. It had reached $150.9M at the FBO after last weekend. This entire week it only did $25.9M, bringing the FBO total to $176.8M. China, where Genisys reached $105M, T:DF only sits at $48.8M, with most likely only one more week to go in the territory.

With a WW total of $233.7M, T:DF sits $131.8M below Salvation. It's safe to say that it won't even come close to Salvation, making this the film not only the wokest of the Terminator films, but the worst performing one, as well. My guess is it ends its run at ~$265M-$275M WW, losing the studio ~$150M-$200M, depending on how big the marketing budget was.
