Forums - Sony Discussion - Death Stranding Review Embargo Set for One Week Before Release

As much as I trust Kojima and have loved his games, I’ve been worried lately about DS. One thing that improved my confidence was the release date of 11/8. Sony almost never releases even their biggest games in the prime holiday slot, so this indicates a lot of confidence on Sony’s end.

Now, the review embargo has been set for Nov. 1–one week prior to release. Sony has only done this for the games in which it has the highest level of confidence. I also found it interesting that IGN claims they’re playing it already. Seems to indicate it will be a big game. My worry is fading into a strong optimism.

I mean, you posted it at 5pm UK time on a Wednesday, I didn't finish work until 8pm so I'm only just seeing it now... give people time to see threads lol :P

As for this, can't say I find it interesting or that it excites me, since I'm already hyped for the game anyway, although I guess it'll be nice to read and/or watch reviews before release

Oldish news.

I mean that's cool and all but virtually all big first party PS4 exclusives had one week before launch reviews, just saying :P

Well this is truly great, 1 week before shows tremendous confidence.

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

That’s not true. Not for a full week, at least. From my memory, it’s only been for the games that ultimately ended up with excellent reviews. I think the Days Gone review embargo was 1-2d prior to release, iirc. I don’t recall even Spider-Man having its embargo a full week prior, tho I could be wrong about that. God of War did it.

So the point is just that this suggests the reviews will end up positive. And that’s exciting, bc there are many people who have been skeptical, myself included.

Great to hear. Should be the norm.

Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Detroit, Spiderman, Days Gone to name a few.

Not particularly.  I loathe Kojima games.  Too much talking and too much watching.  I never got the appeal.  I remember beating MGS in 10 hours, and than beating it in 4 hours when skipping everything.  A game shouldn't be 60% watching.
