Yeah I'm going to finish my Diablo III game on Switch as I've already invested dozens or hours in the game just to get close to the end, so might as well seal the deal. But I'm definitely putting off my Overwatch Switch and Reaper/D.va controller purchase.

I'll just get Astral Chain or Mario Maker instead, as I've wanted to get those for some time - and already own OW on XB One anyway, just wanted a way to play handheld & with a couple other friends who don't have XB.

But I'll tell ya even when I do eventually buy the Switch OW stuff it'll be used. Blizzard aint (at least directly) getting another cent from me. I still hope they can redeem themselves somewhat, maybe at Blizzcon. It's a shame, as they used to be one of my favorite AAA developers along with Nintendo, Bethesda, Ubi, and a few others. At least they reinstated the esports player's prize money but to me it's a bit too little too late, they've made it clear of their lack of principles.

I've been watching the drama from afar, and yeah, it's a dick move from Blizz, China's also tossing it's weight around, like a loan shark collecting some imaginary overdue debt. 

Seeing people that try to defend a country, that literally beats the shit out of their own people to death and even during protests, I've just got this to say:

One company did a really shitty thing, is trying to get away with said shitty thing, while also trying to support and defend a country, fucking well renoun for doing so many shitty things. As for myself (because devil's advocates like to pull the shit-tier "what have you done to boycott, nyeh, gotcha!" as a means of diffusing the opposing side) I've cancelled my WoW sub, uninstalled D3, Overwatch, Heroes etc. Now I've chosen not to delete my account, because I've actually paid for my shit, but I'm also not going to let some shit-tier asshat tell me what I have to do, in order to fulfil their unwritten rule of how to boycott (also, if that's used as a response to me, you're admitting to being a troll).

And lord knows out of anyone, I definitely welcome a diversity of opinions, and certainly think a healthy, thriving society should almost NEVER be total lockstep with ideals/beliefs. Even controversial views should be welcomed if they're backed up with enough logic and a strong enough argument.

But christ you'd think this is one of the few instances where the moral stance and the "side" you take is pretty cut and dry, at least if you're part of a free society!

I welcome diversive opinions. I do not however welcome some that have been given within this thread, because some folk are being devil's advocates deliberately for either shits n' giggles, or trying to diffuse one's attention to something (which is ideally a goal they'd like to achieve, thus thinking they know better than anyone and desire them to follow their lead via said diffusal), as well as some simply throwing human compassion right out the window, over a few trinkets, trinkets that won't be around in 100/1000 years time, and would matter very little by then, but human history so far has not. 

I know two people within this thread are being insanely disingenuous as hell, and I'm not going to say it surprises me, because I've known them over the years and semi-expected those sorts of responses.

The fact some try to find objections, shows they don't care for discussions, and just want to go "ha, I'm right", or trying to control the topic itself, which I care little for.

Definitely! Yeah I'm down to hear coherent rebuttals and explanations but in the case of Blizzard the best I've heard in their defense is "welp! thems the rules!" Really? The rules forbid you to speak one line expressing verbal support of an oppressed group? If those ARE the rules then they need to be changed. The rules don't always = right. If that's the best argument they got then I don't buy it. The other big one is "I don't want political statements in my games.." The hell? Firstly it's one line, spoken at one eporting event. It isn't IN the game. And second - they say "political statement" as if it's controversial or debatable. It isn't. Both tremendously weak arguments.

I'm down for "picking your battles" but this is one battle worth fighting for IMO. To me wealth is a hollow concept without morality.

People making excuses and being so passive is what allows theese sorts of oppressive, Authoritarian regimes to fester and grow. And we sadly seem to have an excess of that mentality in Western society in particular these days..

And part of it is that some people just don't seem the big picture. Even if this particular incident seems relatively small, its potential implications are discouraging at best and utterly frightening at worst.

Yeah, it just boils down to weak arguments and really shitty/poor rule making. I mean, anyone is capable of doing wrong, and so are companies, stances and all.

Also, the "I don't want pol in muh games" logic is borked, since we have an insane plethora of games that have pol integrated within them. We've got games like MGS, games like Gears of War etc. There will always be politics shoved into games in some form or another, whether it be global, socialistic or gender politics.

The fact that one dude wanted to make people aware, and it being shoved under the carpet as "politics" is so fucking retarded. The very idea of trying to keep people ill informed about what's going on in HK is retarded and asinine at best. Even my co-workers, who don't even play games, know about the situation in HK, yet they were not aware of Blizz's bs actions (which I then informed them off and they thought it was scummy).

You know what's amusing about all of this?. I follow one of Blizz's devs, and even he's been taking a stand against Blizz's own BS (thank god for freedom of speech), and there are morons out there trying to sweep it under the carpet, so they can self validate wanting to not do jack shit about one country, trying to fuck over the rest of the world, the way it's been throwing it's weight around.

Like yeah, the British shifted theirs more than a century ago, the Romans and Egyptians centuries before them, but China's shift, is akin to a shift to end all shifts, because unlike the rest of the world, China isn't into giving second chances (especially with the insane hate that's been residing in that country since WWII and the cold war, which is becoming more obvious by the years that pass by), it's do as I say, or you're all fucked one way or another, and no one should bow to that, nor them.

The people that defend all the bad shit that goes on in this world, do not deserve anything, rights and all. Rights should be given to those who choose to fight, who choose to do something that brings about a positive change, not negative ones, or ones that actively enable negative changes. Life is wasted on them ultimately, and it's why I won't feel any remorse or pity for when they eventually pass on, because if you want my opinion?, I think that's a positive change, because then the disingenuous, the enablers and those who revel in the bad that goes on in this world, are effectively muted out of existence, because if you're not gonna help the world, if you're going to willingly support the neo nazis, the stoning of women, killing of gays and supporting a regime that's factually fucking garbage, then your life ultimately was for nothing, because it was wasted on petty scummy shit like what's going on in HK right now.

I'm spreading awareness on a daily basis. I'm engaging with others on multiple sites, forums, chat clients. I'm boycotting a company I once loved for years (but now it's  husk of utter garbage), as well as wishing for HK to not get it's shit kicked in, by a country that thinks it can do anything and get away with shit.
