Forums - Sales Discussion - Nintendo Switch tops 10 million units sales in Europe

According to Nintendo France Twitter Account, more than 10 million Switch ("Nintendo Switch family" aka including Lite) were sold in Europe, which is on par with VGChartz's tracking.

Hell yeah. They have done very well so far compared to previous systems in Europe sans the handhelds. I am starting to believe more and more in the 90-100m range.

VGC has Europe at 10.09 million units as of September 21st. So, they're overtracked by roughly 200-300k units.

When Nintendo give sales figure like this though they're kinda crap. As in they never use decimals. Without knowing the date this figure is for (1st october? 8th october?) and assuming it's probably rounded we can't say whether it's overtracked or not.

The only thing we can say is it's definitely not undertracked, which I believe some people said they thought the switch european figures were.

Unless we get more information may as well assume that VGC figures are correct.

I account for 1/5,000,000th of these sales, yay. Actually maybe a little more technically as there is 3 other people who have bought a Switch after having sessions of play with me on mine.

Great work though by Nintendo creating hardware and software that people are proud to carry around and happy to play again in 2019, a handful of years without Nintendoom articles has really lifted the spirits I bet.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

That sounds good. Would like to see some comparisons at the same time frame.

Around 950 days after launch (VGC Figures):

PS4 - 16.53m
Wii - 16.35m
DS - 13.2m
PS3 - 8.95m
3DS - 7.87m
PSP - 7.79m
XBO - 5.74m
360 - 5.57m
Vita - 2.95m
WiiU - 2.25m

So beaten only by PS4, Wii and DS.

It's not bad. It had a sluggish start in 2017 but has been strong this year. I can see it doing around 25-30m in Europe which is a good figure but not elite like the DS, PS2 and PS4, and that might be the Switch's biggest obstacle to getting to 100m globally

I think one of the obstacles here that might make it more difficult to reach the same numbers as the Wii and the DS is because the prices are at places higher than the recommended price. The Switch is sometimes priced at 310 to 330 euros (within that range). Resellers keep the value also pretty high.
