I’m looking forward to Ninja Gaiden 2....just didn’t get around to playing it back in the day

I haven't played a Ninja Gaiden game in probably 30 years.  Are they still the same kind of game?

Hard? Fast action slashing game?  Yes!  Mind you NG2 is not that hard compared to the others.

The First NG on Xbox was insane, I remember having a slight amount of health...Finally made it to a savepoint and then find out that it doesn't replenish my health... NG2 is a fine game :).

Guys I can't make a thread yet, don't have enough posts. Long time lurker lol.

But here's probably the best place to ask.

How does Game Pass work? I know, I know. What a noob question - but I've been really out of touch this gen. Pumped for next gen and was looking to catch up on some games.

If I get Game Pass can I potentially download Hellblade, Outer Worlds, Gears 4/5 and play them all just by subscribing to Game Pass? If so, once I stop my subscription I'm assuming they all go away? As long as I'm subscribed I have access?

If so, that's freakin OP.
That would be awesome - but I have a feeling I'm missing something?

That is exactly how it works.

As long as a game is on Gamepass, you can play it with an active subscription.

Games like Gears and Outer Worlds that are owned by Microsoft are likely to be on Gamepass forever. Third party games rotate on and off (but they generally seem to be on for at least 6-12 months, and many have just been there forever). New games get added every couple of weeks.

And your first month of Gamepass can usually be purchased for $1, reverting to the normal price after that. In the US, normal price is $10 per month (or, $15 for ultimate, which includes Xbox Gold).

Some notes:

  1. You will be unable to play games obtained through Gamepass if you stop paying the subscription
  2. Even if you have already downloaded a game, it will be unplayable if it gets removed from Gamepass - they generally notify us in advance that a game is going. If that happens you normally have the option to buy the game at a discount.
  3. Gamepass members get discounts on DLC, but generally DLC is not included for free under Gamepass, unless they add GoTY editions of games
  4. Other games currently on Gamepass include GTAV and Witcher 3 (which were both added recently and should be there for quite a while).

Thanks for the info, pal!

This sounds too good to true. That's awesome.

I have to get this ASAP. So many games I could play.

Kudos to Xbox.

It's really a great deal, even moreso for someone in your position. You'll have tons of great games to play.

Thanks guys, one more question:

Say I'm subscribed to Game Pass...and I'm playing Gears 5...and I'm mid way thru...kind of get side tracked and I don't finish the game. I now unsubscribe to Game Pass.
Couple months go by, I'm getting the itch to play again...if I resubscribe...is my game data still saved? Do I get to continue again mid way thru and pick up where I left off? Or am I back to square one?

Or for example, say I start Gears 5....I'm mid way thru...I unsubscribe...and I end up buying a physical/digital copy of Gears 5 for whatever reason...do I get to access that save data with my previous Game Pass play?

Hope that makes sense lol.

Sure, the save games are the same for retail discs, digital downloads without expiry date or digital downloads with expiry date. Any combination is valid and additionally to the storage on the HDD the save games are also backuped in the cloud for free.

You can lend the retail disc from a friend, later subscribe to gamepass and use the same save games,
unsubscribe, buy a different retail disc used and use the same save games,
after that buy the download version on sale and sell the retail disc...

I'm closing the poll at the end of the month (2 days left).
I hope most of you could check out the January games to form an opinion. Would be great if a few of you reading this could vote (if you haven't already).
There's currently a tie between GTA V and A Plague Tale so that we might get a winner at the end.

Another game joined Game Pass (yesterday *cough*):

The Jackbox Party Pack 3

One of the few games the wife would play with me so I'm excited to try it out.

Also thanks for the votes! There's still a tie but eh what can you do. Just one more day until I close the poll.

March is going to be an exciting month for Game Pass. So far there are only two confirmed games but at least one of them is considered to be a heavy hitter:
Bleeding Edge and Ori and the Will of the Wisps
