Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ori and the Blind Forest on Switch upgraded over Xbone/PC version

"A lot of the optimizations we did for Will of the Wisps ended up in the Blind Forest version for Switch, so that was a nice side-effect.

Another thing people maybe don't notice immediately is that Ori's sprites were animated at 30fps on Xbox/PC, but for Switch we were actually able to update the animations to 60fps due to all the optimizations, so technically Ori actually even animates a bit smoother on Switch than on the other platforms :)"

Always nice to see developers going the extra mile to deliver the best conversion they can.

Oooh boy, unless they update it for other versions, it seems like some people might get angry at the disparity xP

Angry or not, they should update the other versions too. There's no reason they should miss out on this just because they came out earlier.

Nice, the game already looked great too. Will add this to my next download batch.

There is a fairly large demo of this available on the Eshop right now before it's launch tomorrow, the game does look absolutely beautiful on the Switch especially as a handheld title this is just gorgeous to look at and plays like a dream. Smooth as butter the whole way through the demo... only slight issue I had was a tech issue with the demo opening the eshop at the end where the system was still playing the game music while the shop was open and it did not run correctly at all. Also not sure if you can move your save from demo to retail game so it might be worth waiting the day if you know you're going to be buying this.

Fancy hearing me on an amateur podcast with friends gushing over one of my favourite games? https://youtu.be/1I7JfMMxhf8

This game is one of my favourite games this generation. I am so tempted in double dipping again however i am waiting on the hyped up sequel. Good to see the support in what is one of the best new IPs this gen.

I want to play a lot.
I read somewhere that is is similar lo HK, but focusing more on platforming than combat.
I would like to buy a physical edition.

It's not similar do Hollow Knight at all. They're in the same genre, but that's about it. Ori is a far shorter and more linear game, with indeed more focus on the platforming than the combat (like, way more). There's so little backtracking and revisiting older areas in Ori, and so little combat to do, that it feels more like a level-based platformer where the levels just so happen to connect to each other than a proper Metroidvania.

Ori is one the best games ever crafted. The music in particular is astounding.

Good. So my guess is a 8-10 hours for the first time playing?
