Forums - Movies & TV - Spider-Man no longer in the MCU after disagreement between Sony and Disney (UPDATE #2): Sony releases statement

Um, are you sure it isn't a case like the Hulk rights, and that Tom H can appear in non Spiderman films in the MCU just fine: Like showing up in a Daredevil film when that issue clears up?

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

The backlash alone will force Sony and Disney to work something out. Otherwise, maybe Sony can make a "home" spiderman 3 with all the characters except the MCU tied ones like Tony's friends. They could just call iron man "him" or "he" or something. Have some no name from stark interact with the guy. Then maybe they can bring venom to New York and get something done. I would have loved a Sony+Disney collaboration for venom vs spiderman but I guess it ain't happening

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

Wow. That relationship broke down even faster than I thought it would.

All good things must come to an end. It was good while it lasted.

If I still gave a fart about the MCU, I'b be PISSED! Anyway, as a Sony fanboy, and someone who is no fan of Disney: Fuck Disney! Just in general. Fuck their cinematic pablum. Fuck their identity politics. Fuck their weak-ass, creatively bankrupt remakes. Fuck their monolithic presence in the world of entertainment. Yeah! Vinland Saga!

As for the business end of this as it concerns Sony......It's an iffy move. However, if people like the movies, I don't think it's going to matter much if Falcon doesn't have a cameo in the next movie. Or whoever. Most of the integration with the rest of the MCU would have been mostly fluff until the next big story convergence, which is a ways away. Hopefully the MCU train will have pile-driven into the valley by then.

So... are they just gonna' like, pretend Peter/Spidey died in the MCU and run along with that, or just forget he existed and have all the other characters that have met him act dumb about it all? Not sure how it's gonna' work going forward, but this really stinks!

^ thats gonna look stupid.... this hurts disney as much as it does sony.

Basically Disney too greedy.
That said, I never felt Spiderman fit in well into the MCU.
(just like hawkeye + black widow + captain america) (rest of MCU are badasses)

It will work out in the end

Identity politics? OH dear, one of thoooseee people.

Well here are the options I thought up for a spacebattles post on this

A Sonic movie level backtrack
Sony gets hacked again in retaliation
Disney yanks the Spiderman game license to mess with Insomniac's game in some way
Spiderman gets basically X-mened for a bit
Disney buys Sony out
Lawsuits
Other bad thing for Sony
Other bad thing for a consistent Marvel Universe (while DC laughs)

Well at least they have a few years to punch it out before Spiderman has any reason to pop up again....

I went to watch aladin.... it was so damn weak, compaired to the old cartoon version.
What Ive read of reviews on Lion King is the same, even dumbo looks bad imo.

Its like they ran out of orinal ideas or story telling talent.
Disney of old, used to rock with animation.... and there was passion and life in their characters.
These old classics havnt done well as remakes.

Thats ontop of what they did to Star Wars (its gone crap after disney took over)

Btw, for those saying this is all Sony's fault, and they're stupid to let this happen.....

"Disney asked that future Spider-Man films be a 50/50 co-financing arrangement between the studios, and there were discussions that this might extend to other films in the Spider-Man universe"

Sony would have been pretty weak to roll over on a demand like that. Disney already throws it's weight around enough in Hollywood as it is.
