Metroid on NES is the best Metroid. No mini map actually adda to the experience.

We had the map in our heads, it was the password system that made it janky.  Getting stuck in pits was <ahem> the pits, too.  But as far as the feels are concerned, the original Metroid was an experience I'll never forget.  In retrospect it doesn't look or play as smooth as later Metroid games, but at the time it was cutting edge.  It was hands down the best game on the system...save for maybe Zelda and Super Mario Bros for the fun factor.

But the fact that Super Metroid took you back to the same world gives me the nostalgia coupled with great gameplay, sound, and sequence breaking to the nth degree makes it a much better experience for my money.  Of course you may just be trolling with your comment anyway.

One of my favorite franchises. Couldn't get my hands on the original until much later but that Metroid II Gameboy commercial made it a must have. After that, I was hooked.

Super Metroid is the ducks nuts.

A remaster of that is worth the purchase of any Nintendo system.

Trying to source a copy of Metroid Prime: Trilogy... But the prices on those discs are bullshit.

Lots of good fan remakes and Nintendo doesn't even strike them down.

Amazing series, think outside of Mario and Sonic it's possibly the franchise where I have the most games completed.

One outstanding thing for me was during metroid Prime, I upgraded to a 32 widescreen philips TV after buying my GC and was so happily lost in that game, playing it til all hours of the night... and only late on did I realise the flashs that you see sometimes when you strike something too close to Samus... those eyes man, they scared the hell out of me when I actually seen what it was on screen. Amazing effect and I think it still holds up to this day just how subtle it is in the game.

Metroid prime 2 still my favorite. Best suit so far.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Metroid Fusion is my favourite Metroid game, would love to see a remake on the Switch.
The Metroid Franchise is up there as one of my favourites. Looking forward to Prime 4.

Okay, let's do this thread right.

1. Super Metroid
2. Metroid Prime
3. Metroid Fusion
4. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
5. Metroid: Samus Returns
6. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
7. AM2R
8. Metroid: Zero Mission
9. Metroid II: Return of Samus
10. Metroid Prime Pinball
11. Metroid
12. Metroid Prime Hunters
13. Metroid Prime: Federation Force
14. Metroid: Other M

Metroid Other M is not worse than Federation Force, Hunters, original Metroid, Pinball or Return of Samus. Not even close.

I haven't played all the metroid games but quadraxis from metroid prime 2 echoes is still one of my favorite and most memorable boss battles ever
